September 9, 2022) Premiere ride in the new hydrogen train: Dr. Roland
Busch, CEO of Siemens AG, Dr. Richard Lutz, CEO of Deutsche Bahn, and Hartmut
Höppner, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV),
are taking their first ride in the Mireo Plus H hydrogen train today and will
then demonstrate the train’s refueling procedure using the mobile hydrogen
fueling station. The event will be held at the Siemens Test and Validation
Center in Wegberg-Wildenrath, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is planned to have
hydrogen technology replace diesel-powered trainsets in regional transport in
the future and make a significant contribution to phasing out diesel fuel. Hydrogen
trains are a particularly climate-friendly drive technology since they operate
emission-free with green hydrogen and emit only water vapor.

Siemens Smart
Infrastructure has enhanced its Intelligent Valve with new glycol capability. As
a result, the valve can now be used in hydronic circuits with ethylene
glycol-based antifreeze. The glycol option substantially increases the range of
use cases for the Intelligent Valve: It extends the application range to hydronic
circuits that are exposed to ambient temperatures below 0°C during standstill.
Example applications include coils in air handling units (AHUs) or recoolers of
chiller plants. With the new capability, the required burst protection can be
provided without sacrificing the well-known benefits of Intelligent Valve such
as energy transparency, pressure-independent flow control or optimized Delta T
(ΔT).

Siemens
has been awarded a contract to upgrade the distribution management
system and establish an advanced metering infrastructure for Alexandria
Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) – Lot 1 of a JICA-funded loan. As
subsidiary of the state-owned utility Egyptian Electricity Holding Company
(EEHC), AEDC is responsible for the distribution network of Alexandria
Governorate, the second most populated governorate in Egypt. During the
upcoming 30 months, Siemens will be implementing an ADMS control center for the
West Alexandria region and a control center to supervise all distribution
control centers in Alexandria.

Siemens is expanding its
offering around the Sinumerik One "digital native" CNC. The new CNC
generation from Siemens, which was introduced to the market in 2019, is also
coming up with innovations in software and hardware this year. With the new
Sinumerik V6.20 software, there are new technology functions for the Sinumerik
One that simplify operation, reduce machine wear, and increase productivity.
Siemens is thus demonstrating once again how the powerful Sinumerik One machine
tool control system can be optimally used for digital transformation in a
highly productive, flexible, and modular way.

ÖBB and
Siemens Mobility unveil the next generation of Nightjet sleeping and couchette
cars at the Siemens Mobility plant in Vienna. The new cars are designed to
optimally accommodate the needs of customers and score points with modern
design, greater comfort and increased privacy. By the end of 2025, a total of
33 next-generation ÖBB Nightjets will be on the rails, connecting European
cities overnight at speeds of up to 230 kilometers per hour in a
climate-friendly way. The first trains are scheduled to be in use by the end of
summer 2023 on the popular routes from Austria and Germany to Italy.

charitable organization Siemens Caring Hands will provide $250,000 to Unlimited
Tomorrow Global Initiative to secure prostheses for victims in Ukraine

prostheses, enabling delivery directly to victims in the Ukraine
The war in
Ukraine has produced numerous amputation victims. In total, more than 10,000
prostheses are needed in the country. To help those affected who have lost one
or more limbs, Unlimited Tomorrow Global Initiative (UTGI) has launched a
fundraising initiative in partnership with Singularity
Group to deliver 100 of its personalized TrueLimb prostheses to Ukraine.
Siemens Caring Hands is contributing to the initiative through an initial
$250,000 donation, which will cover the costs for 25 victims.

Siemens locations across Germany in 2022

This year, as
in 2021, more than 1,300 apprentices and university students in work-study
programs will begin their work lives at Siemens locations across Germany. These
traineeships include 800 positions at Siemens AG, 190 at Siemens Mobility,
and 130 at Siemens Healthineers. In addition, 200 trainees from the company’s external
partners are also beginning training programs offered by Siemens Professional
Education. More than half of the overall number of traineeships are in work-study
programs for university students. Siemens has one of the private sector’s
largest and most innovative job training programs worldwide
and invests €160 million a year in this area.

Akiem, the
leasing rolling stock specialist company for rail vehicles, has ordered 65
Vectron AC and Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility. The order was
placed as part of a framework agreement for the purchase of locomotives that
was signed in December 2021. The first locomotives from this call are to be
delivered in mid-2024. Akiem previously ordered 20 Vectron locomotives from
Siemens Mobility last December.

Siemens AG
today announced new leadership appointments in its Sustainability and Investor Relations
departments, effective October 1. Eva Riesenhuber (49), currently head of Investor
Relations, will assume the role of global head of Sustainability and Eva
Scherer (38), currently Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Rail
Infrastructure and Software Business Units at Siemens Mobility, is appointed
head of Investor Relations.
