- Forward-looking, sustainable building technologies and
carbon neutral orientation
- Four strong, long-term Siemens locations in and around
Munich
Siemens is planning to open a new
office location near Munich’s East Station by the end of 2027. In the new
building, which is currently under construction, the company intends to rent
around 33,000 square meters of modern office space. Siemens’ offices in
Munich’s Perlach district will be transferred to the inter-urban structure,
which will be a prominent feature of the southern entrance to the city’s
so-called Werksviertel district. The company sold and leased back the Munich-Perlach
location in 2010. On completion, the new building will provide office space for
about 4,000 people.

Urgently
needed help for local heat and power supply
- First
cogeneration unit already on the way to Ukraine
- Commitment
part of Siemens’ wide-ranging support for Ukraine
Siemens is
donating several high-performance cogeneration units to Ukraine to supply the country
with urgently needed heat and power. This equipment is particularly important
for buildings such as hospitals, schools and kindergartens since large parts of
Ukraine’s vital infrastructure have been destroyed by Russia. Distributed cogeneration
units can make a contribution to partially restoring this infrastructure.
- New innovation hub for research at Siemens in Garching, Germany
- Joint research facility with Technical University of Munich in Garching’s “Isar Valley”
- Modern and open work environments in a digitally planned, sustainable building
Just nine months after construction began, a
topping-out ceremony is being celebrated for the new Siemens Technology Center
at the research campus in the university town of Garching, Germany, near
Munich. As a result, this new building – which was planned digitally and is
being built to meet stringent sustainability requirements – has thus now
reached an important milestone on the journey to Siemens’ future research activities in the
Munich area. With its modern work environments, this facility will serve as an
innovation hub that provides space for inspiration and new ideas. At this center,
more than 450 researchers from Siemens’ “Technology” unit will collaborate on
technologies of the future with around 150 employees and students from the
Technical University of Munich (TUM).
The
historical Siemensstadt will be transformed into a new working and living
environment. With Siemensstadt2, Siemens is planning to implement the largest
development project in its history.
- Jury’s decision for design by Berlin firm unanimous
- Clear urban development concept and new high-rise structure in center of Siemensstadt
- Historic location to be successfully transformed for the future
Siemens and the State of Berlin invited 18 architecture firms and urban planning teams to participate in the competition to redesign Siemensstadt (“Siemens City”), the company’s historic location in Berlin. After two days evaluating their proposals, the high-caliber jury has now reached a decision: “Siemensstadt 2.0 will be implemented on the basis of a design submitted by the Berlin firm Ortner & Ortner Baukunst,” said Stefan Behnisch, the distinguished architect who chaired the jury’s deliberations. “In the jury’s view, this design will provide a solid basis for the structure of the future Siemensstadt. It’s not the complete picture. It leaves room for necessary developments. It’s a design that treats the historical buildings with respect while enabling their up-to-date utilization. The design fulfills virtually all today’s requirements, but also leaves room for the future development of a new, modern city where people can both work and live,” he added.
- Corporate real estate management now also for external customers
-
Renting, development and consulting in focus
- Intelligent real estate in close cooperation with other Siemens units
Siemens Real Estate (SRE) has been managing Siemens' real estate portfolio for more than 20 years and, as a versatile and future-oriented corporate real estate manager, has repeatedly adapted to the challenges of the market. Effective immediately, SRE will make the expertise it has acquired available to external clients for the first time. Companies that do not yet have their own professional real estate management will thus have access to SRE's knowledge and experience in the three product groups of consulting, renting and real estate and location development.
Together with Munich Mayor Christian Ude, Siemens President and CEO Peter Löscher has laid the foundation stone for the company's new headquarters building, which will be completed on Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich by the end of 2015. The future inner-city complex will provide employees with a 21st-century working environment and be freely accessible to the general public at ground level. Siemens has set the highest standards for sustainability for its new headquarters, and will fulfill the criteria for minimum energy consumptions in buildings.
