- Automation business: focus on growth markets and stronger customer orientation
- Electric vehicle charging business: concentration on fast-charging infrastructure
for depots and fleets and for en-route charging
- Capacity adjustments worldwide and in Germany necessary at both
businesses
- Planned measures in automation business to affect around 5,600 jobs
worldwide, including about 2,600 in Germany;
around 450 jobs worldwide to be affected
in electric vehicle charging business, including about 250 in Germany
- No operational-related redundancies in Germany
- Continued strong commitment to Germany as a business location
Siemens has presented
plans to further increase its global competitiveness to employee
representatives. The plans affect units in the automation business at Digital
Industries and the electric vehicle charging business at Smart Infrastructure. Changed
conditions in key markets have made capacity adjustments necessary in both
cases. For two years, the German market, in particular, has been declining. As
a result, capacities in Germany will have to be adjusted. Operational-related
layoffs in Germany are ruled out. The aim is to strengthen the future
competitiveness of the businesses affected and enable investments in growth
markets. Despite the planned adjustments, Siemens’ total headcount in Germany
will tend to remain stable due to hiring in other, growing areas.
- Complete data transparency down to the field level
- Field-level load feeders are seamlessly integrated into the automation system
- Detection of faults, deviations, and maintenance requirements facilitates diagnosis and enables preventive maintenance
With the SIRIUS 3RC7 intelligent link module,
Siemens now offers a quick and easy way to gain complete data transparency down
to the field level. The plug-and-play expansion module combines information
technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) with minimal installation and
commissioning effort. This means that the data available at the load feeders
can be used efficiently. As part of the leading automation concept Totally
Integrated Automation (TIA) from Siemens, the SIRIUS 3RC7 intelligent link
modules are seamlessly integrated into the existing automation environment.
SIRIUS 3RC7 is part of the SIRIUS modular system, the comprehensive portfolio
for industrial controls.

- Positions DSB for
modernization with a more dynamic and customer-focused approach
- S3 Passenger
empowers DSB to optimize capacity and demand management and enhance passenger
communications
- Long-term
partnership with a 12-year contract
The Danish State Railways (DSB)
announced it selected S3 Passenger to replace DSB’s legacy inventory management
system for all its mainline services. S3 Passenger is developed by Siemens
Mobility subsidiary Sqills, and it is considered the industry-leading dynamic
pricing, inventory management, and reservation system. DSB signed a 12-year
contract that can be extended by another 12 years. DSB is the third public
transport operator on the Scandinavian market that uses S3 Passenger, and it is
one with a rich history dating back more than a century. DSB was founded in
1885 with the merger of two state-owned railway operators.
- Optimized
use of space in withdrawable designs
- Reduction
of installation expenses
- Innovative
Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) communication physics optimized for withdrawable
design
- Scalable
functionality thanks to licensable device features
Siemens has launched SIMOCODE M-CP, an efficient and
future-proof motor management product series, especially tailored for motor
control centers (MCC). The new product series complements the existing SIMOCODE
portfolio and is designed to optimally meet the requirements of motor control
centers. SIMOCODE M-CP introduces a new standard in the industry with its
compact design, advanced functionality, and compatibility with Ethernet-based
communication. In the future, SIMOCODE M-CP can be adapted to different operational
requirements by purchasing licenses that enable additional functions depending
on the application. Motor control centers are designed to efficiently
distribute power to motors, enable precise control and monitoring, and offer
protection against overloads, short circuits, and other electrical faults. The
industries in which motor control centers are used range from chemicals,
tunnels and infrastructure, pulp and paper, mining and steel to water and
wastewater.
- Workstation provides with software-defined automation unprecedented control over factory automation and security
- At Automate 2024, Siemens highlights how co-creator Ford Motor Company will be the first customer to deploy and scale this technology in its manufacturing operations
Siemens, a leading
technology company, today announced a breakthrough in the longstanding
