Siemens Mobility is honored to announce that it has signed a contract with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), in witness of the Egyptian Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, as well as the German Ambassador in Egypt to deliver a comprehensive rail system that will feature the first ever high-speed, electrified main and freight rail line that will transform transportation in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Together with partners Orascom Construction S.A.E. and The Arab Contractors, Siemens Mobility will provide its comprehensive turnkey services to design, install, commission, and maintain the systems for 15 years. The total contract value is approximately USD 4.5 billion, of which Siemens Mobility’s share is around USD 3 billion. The vast majority of the order intake is expected to be booked in 2022 after financial closing. It is the first contract to be signed from the MoU agreed upon between NAT and Siemens Mobility, Orascom Construction and The Arab Contractors in January 2021.The
contract signed today covers the initial 660 km out of the 1800 km rail network
planned. Additionally, it was agreed to discuss and finalize
the agreements on the two other high-speed railway lines including rail
infrastructure and trains, and maintenance in the coming months.
- Continuous monitoring of energy consumption in the terminal building and at the shore power connecting points
- IoT data platform enables data storage in MindSphere and easy remote access
- Systematic energy data management ensures efficient operations
The Port of Kiel commissioned Siemens Smart Infrastructure to implement a cloud-based power monitoring solution for its shore power system. The shore power system, also from Siemens, will cover the electricity demand of all ships at the Ostseekai and Schwedenkai with green power while they are berthed at the Port of Kiel. This saves more than 8,000 tons of CO2 per year. The new power monitoring solution makes it possible to measure the energy consumption in the shore power operations building and at the Ostseekai and Schwedenkai connecting points, and store the data in MindSphere, the cloud-based IoT system from Siemens. The operators have access to all relevant electrical values at any time and from anywhere, allowing them to determine consumption, identify faults, avoid downtimes, and plan maintenance routines better.
- Shorter development and commissioning times
- Software libraries enable standardization
- Commissioning tests on virtual test rack
The new Sinumerik One CNC generation is at the heart of digital transformation for machine tools. As a digital native, the controller features not only a new hardware platform, but also versatile software for the creation of a digital twin. It closes the gap between the virtual and the real world and helps to reduce development and commissioning times considerably.
- Sinumerik One Dynamics - three technology packages to increase the efficiency of CNC users when programming in the shopfloor and executing CAM-generated CNC programs
- Top Surface and Top Speed Plus for excellent motion control and perfect workpiece surfaces
With the software version NCU-SW 6.14, Siemens is launching three powerful technology packages exclusively for the CNC Sinumerik One. The Sinumerik One Dynamics packages are available in three different packages: One Dynamics Operate, One Dynamics 3-axis milling and One Dynamics 5-axis milling. The software functions contained in the technology packages support users from machine-oriented programming in the jobshop to high-performance machining of CAD-CAM-programmed workpieces with high surface quality.
- Reliable protection with minimal space requirements
- For power distribution and industrial plants
Siemens Smart Infrastructure presents the new Siprotec 5 Compact device, specially designed to address the demands of industrial applications, infrastructure and distribution grids. With its compact size, large number of inputs and outputs, and universal range of functions, it can be configured to meet the specific requirements associated with protecting feeders and motors. As a space-saving universal device, it is ideally suited to help optimize investment and operating costs in power distribution.
- Improvement of machine tool availability through predictive maintenance with Analyze MyMachine /Condition
- Analyze MyMachine /Condition for Sinumerik Edge creates a mechanical fingerprint of the machine tool
- Condition evaluation, analysis and comparison of all connected machines using the Mindsphere application
Siemens is extending its edge application Analyze MyMachine /Condition with a corresponding Mindsphere application and thus demonstrating how edge computing and cloud computing can be intelligently combined. The Sinumerik Edge Application Analyze MyMachine /Condition, which the company presented last year at the EMO, uses high-frequency CNC data to create the mechanical fingerprint of a machine tool. In the application, users can capture and evaluate various parameters such as stiffness, friction, and backlash in the individual axes with the help of flexibly configurable measurement series. The measurement results can then be visualized and compared with reference data.
- Siemens Mobility supplying the complete system technology for C-ITS in Austria
- C-ITS allows for exchange of information between vehicles and the road via ITS-G5 broadcast technology
- ASFiNAG is the first infrastructure provider in Europe to install C-ITS
Siemens Mobility is pleased to announce that it is
partnering with ASFiNAG, the operating authority for the Austrian highway network,
to provide the technology for an intelligent traffic
management system that facilitates the exchange of safety information between
vehicles and the road. The “Cooperative Intelligent Transport System”
(C-ITS) is a next generation traffic management system that uses
broadcast technology to analyze roadway conditions and disseminates information
to motorists relating to traffic jams, accidents, and lane
closures. ASFiNAG is the first infrastructure
provider in Europe to reach the milestone of installing a network connecting
the vehicle and road. The process of implementing the system across 2,200
kilometers of highway and expressway in Austria has already started.
