The Audit Committee
of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG has decided to recommend that the
Supervisory Board propose to the shareholders at the Annual Shareholders’
Meeting in 2024 the election of PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH,
Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, as independent auditors of Siemens’ financial
statements for fiscal 2024 (start: October 1, 2023). This recommendation is the
result of intensive discussions between the Supervisory Board, the Audit
Committee and the Managing Board of Siemens AG and of a comprehensive tendering
process in accordance with current European legal norms.

Siemens made
significant progress as a focused technology company in the third quarter
(ended June 30, 2022). The company leveraged growth opportunities in
many key markets despite a continuing complex macroeconomic environment influenced
by economic sanctions on Russia, high inflation and effects associated with the
coronavirus pandemic. In addition, Siemens continued to avoid larger
disruptions due to supply chain risks associated with electronics components,
raw materials and logistics.

Siemens and MAHLE intend to collaborate in
the field of inductive charging of electric vehicles. Both companies have
signed a letter of intent to this effect. “Wireless charging of electric
vehicles is emerging as a major market for the future. In addition to making
life considerably easier for drivers, who no longer have to fiddle with cables
and connectors, it is a crucial requirement for the autonomous mobility of
tomorrow. The transfer efficiency of wireless, inductive charging is comparable
to plug-in systems,” said Stefan Perras, Head of Pre-development and Innovation
for Charging Infrastructure at Siemens AG.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI), the frontrunner in digital buildings, has
completed the acquisition of Brightly Software, a leading U.S.-based software-as-a-service
(SaaS) provider of asset and maintenance management solutions. The acquisition elevates
SI to a leading position in the software market for buildings and built
infrastructure. It adds Brightly’s well-established cloud-based capabilities across
key sectors – education, public infrastructure, healthcare, and manufacturing –
to Siemens’ digital and software know-how in buildings. Brightly’s addition to
the Siemens portfolio accelerates the build-up of SI’s SaaS business, enabling
the companies to deliver superior performance and sustainability for built
infrastructure.

Siemens Mobility is presenting its new digital business platform Siemens Xcelerator at InnoTrans 2022. Siemens Xcelerator is an open digital business platform with the ambition to create a powerful ecosystem of partners who can jointly accelerate digital transformation and sustainability in mobility at scale. By opening interfaces for all participants of the mobility ecosystem, Siemens Xcelerator helps connect the real with the digital worlds – a first-of-its-kind innovation in the rail industry.
Siemens Mobility to install a 2,000 km state-of-the-art high-speed rail network that will connect 60 cities throughout the country with trains that can operate up to 230 km/h. The integrated system will create the 6ᵗʰ largest high-speed rail network in the world, and will provide 90% of Egyptians access to a modern, safe, and affordable transportation system. The fully electrified network will cut carbon emissions by 70% compared to current car or bus transport, further supporting Egypt’s efforts in transforming its mobility to a more sustainable one. Siemens Mobility will deliver 41 Velaro high-speed trains, 94 Desiro High Capacity regional train sets, and 41 Vectron freight locomotives. This contract also includes the development of eight depots and yards and 15 years of maintenance.

Skeleton Technologies and
Siemens have agreed on a far-reaching technology partnership for the
development, planning and implementation of a fully automated, digital manufacturing
technology for the production of supercapacitors in Germany. The production
line is to be used in a new Skeleton factory in Markranstädt, Leipzig and will
help to reduce production costs by around 90 percent within the five-year
project. The collaboration aims to achieve the digitization of Skeleton's
entire value chain – from supercapacitor cell design to production and services
– and expand to the production of next-generation supercapacitors. Siemens
supports this with its comprehensive Digital Enterprise portfolio as well as
domain know-how in the area of industrial battery cell production. Furthermore,
it is planned to further expand the business relations between the two
companies.

On the
grounds of its company headquarters in Warsaw, Poland, Siemens has opened a
center for refugees from Ukraine. To make this step possible, the company has
been renovating and remodeling large parts of the building since early March
2022. A variety of accommodations – ranging from rooms for families and for
childcare all the way to sanitary facilities – have been set up on about 2,600 square
meters of floor space. These accommodations have been designed to be suitable
for long-term residence. Siemens Caring Hands e.V. used donations primarily
made by Siemens employees to finance the remodeling work. Since July 12,
Siemens has been making these facilities available free of charge to Warsaw’s
municipal authorities, who are taking care of operating the center. The first group
of Ukrainian refugees has already moved in.

ViaQuatro has successfully begun full operation of São Paulo’s entire Metro Line 4 with Siemens Mobility’s Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling. Since its first stretch opened in 2010, it has been the first fully automated metro line in South America that can operate with GoA 4, the highest grade of automation that allows trains to be automatically controlled and operated. The digitalized and optimized system allows for a more efficient and centralized control of operations, while also increasing the safety, availability, and capacity across the entire network.
