- Simotics S-1FT2 in protection class IP67 with 26 bit encoder, higher rated speed and other selectable features
Siemens is adding new servo motors to its proven Sinamics S210 single-cable servo drive system, thereby expanding its range of applications. Specifically, for use in the pharmaceutical and food industries, the company is launching the Simotics S-1FS2, a motor version with a stainless-steel housing, the highest degree of protection IP67/IP69, and high-resolution 22-bit absolute multiturn encoders. The servo motor thus meets all hygienic conditions and can be used for mixing and stirring, air conditioning and ventilating, dosing and filling, as well as conveying, packaging and storing a wide variety of end products in the food and beverage sector and in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Access Points and the first industrial Wi-Fi 6 Client Module available on the market
- Reliable and high-performance wireless connectivity with maximum data transmission rates
- Devices available with high protection class and industry-specific approvals
With a view to the increasing demands posed by digitalization, Siemens is expanding its offerings for network components for industrial WLAN solutions: The new Scalance WUM766-1 Client Module is the first industrial client module on the market that satisfies the latest Wireless LAN Standard IEEE 802.11ax (“Wi-Fi 6”), enabling reliable and high-performance wireless connectivity. By combining the Client Module with the new Scalance WAM766-1 Access Points, users can now implement demanding Industry 4.0 applications such as augmented reality or remote-controlled cranes. At gross data transmission rates of 1201 Mbit/s, the Access Points can link a large number of mobile devices in confined spaces, for example shuttle systems in intra-logistics.
Clarissa Haller, Head of Global Communications at Siemens AG, is leaving the company by mutual agreement.

- New Sinamics DriveSim Basic software solution for fast and easy simulation of drive constellations
- Seamless integration of models into commercially available simulation programs
- Validated function units accelerate development phase
With Sinamics DriveSim Basic, Siemens presents a new software solution with which for the first-time drive constellations and their behavior in machines and plants can be simulated, adapted, and optimized. With the new solution, Siemens offers a quick and easy entry into the simulation of drive technology and enables machine and plant manufacturers to accelerate their own development phase.
- Simotics SD motor series from Siemens is now consistently available in efficiency class Super Premium Efficiency (IE4)
- Exceeds increasingly stringent requirements of ErP Directive 2019/1781, which takes effect in two steps in July 2021 and July 2023
- Users can meet long-term efficiency standards, save energy, lower operating costs, and reduce CO2 emissions
Siemens is presenting the Simotics SD motor series as part of the Digital Enterprise Virtual Experience at the Hannover Messe 2021. The standard version of Simotics SD is offered in the efficiency class Super Premium Efficiency (IE4) across the entire power spectrum from 2.2 to 1,000 kW and for the number of poles 2, 4, as well as from 75 kW for 6 poles and from 55 kW for 8 poles. Simotics SD in IE4 thus exceeds the so-called ErP Directive 2019/1781 (energy-related products) – both the first stage, which will be valid by July 2021, as well as the next, which will apply from July 2023. The directive defines the eco-design requirements for electric motors and speed control systems.

- Siemens Caring Hands makes tablets available to all local THW
sections through the THW Foundation
- Devices are also to be equipped with cloud-based apps based on Siemens’
Mendix software
- Civil defense and disaster control teams are to use tablets and
software to respond to emergencies in a faster and more targeted manner
- Project is part of the COVID-19 relief fund set up by Siemens and is
a key element of THW Foundation’s PROGRESSUS initiative
Siemens Caring Hands e.V. is making a
long-term contribution to fighting the pandemic and is supporting the task
forces of the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) in driving
digital transformation with the help of the THW Foundation. This will simplify
THW’s work as a system-relevant organization in times of crisis. In total,
Siemens Caring Hands is donating 668 tablets to THW Foundation, which in turn
is making it possible to use these devices at all 668 local THW sections.
Siemens Caring Hands is not only bearing the hardware costs, but is also making
Siemens experts available as advisors to help put the devices into operation –
for example, by helping with data protection issues and by equipping the
tablets with additional cloud-based apps. These apps are being programmed for
this specific purpose by Mendix, a Business Unit of Siemens Digital Industries
and a global leader in no-code/low-code applications. To develop the apps, a
multi-phase process has been established that enables THW to plan the low-code
applications on its own according to its specific needs and to then develop the
apps with the aid of a hackathon that Siemens will be holding at the end of
April.
