- Festo AX Data Access app available on the Siemens Industrial Edge Marketplace
- Connectivity solution helps to drive productivity and sustainability
- Siemens Industrial Edge Ecosystem continues to grow: More apps from Festo being planned
Siemens Xcelerator, the open digital
business platform, creates an open ecosystem for collaboration between
customers, Siemens, and certified partners, from large technology companies to
independent software developers. Festo and Siemens announced their latest
partnership at this year’s Hannover Messe trade fair. Festo has joined the
Industrial Edge Ecosystem. To kick this off, Festo is offering the Festo AX
Data access app, effective immediately, on the Siemens Industrial Edge Marketplace,
where industrial customers can
purchase numerous apps from different providers. The integrated IoT
solutions based on these apps offer customers greater productivity,
flexibility, and sustainability. Siemens launched the independent, cross-vendor
app store for industrial customers in October 2021. This marketplace is based
on the Siemens Industrial Edge platform. It uses edge computing to process data
right at its source, such as on an industrial PC in machines or plants. Effective
immediately, Festo is offering data-driven AI solutions from the Festo
Automation Experience (Festo AX) portfolio on the marketplace.
- Fast charging in up to 15 minutes
- SICHARGE D chargers ensure seamless charging, high reliability and flexibility
- Dynamic power allocation ensures optimized charging time
Siemens has been
awarded one of the largest single orders for SICHARGE D electric vehicle (EV)
fast chargers globally to date. The order, which comprises of 200 EV fast
chargers and digital services, was made by Astor Enerji, a manufacturer of transformer
and switchgear products to fulfill its plans to build charging stations
throughout Turkey. The company intends to set up chargers every 200 kilometers
along highways all over the country and at a number of shopping malls. By the
end of the year, at least 150 chargers are planned to be in operation, with the
remaining chargers to be delivered by February 2024.
- SINEC Security Inspector: Offering a single user interface for a software framework combining different cybersecurity tools
- Includes market-tested solutions for asset detection and identification, compliance checks, malware scans and vulnerability checks
- Originally developed by and used for Siemens only, now available for any industrial environment
With the evolving convergence of IT and OT networks in industrial manufacturing, cybersecurity concerns have risen likewise. Moreover, legal regulations force industrial companies to enhance cybersecurity in their processes. To address the growing need for industrial cybersecurity solutions, the technology company Siemens has grown its cybersecurity solution portfolio and launched an all-in-one security testing suite for industrial communication networks. The SINEC Security Inspector is a software framework for active one-time scanning that allows individual network devices, network segments or the entire network infrastructure to be scanned during maintenance time windows. It brings together a selection of best-in-class security tools which are integrated into a single user interface.
Additive manufacturing is
not, and should not be perceived, as an isolated industrial domain. It’s an
additional technology that can advance classical manufacturing. As companies
mature in the additive hype cycle the need for collaboration rises.
- New medium-voltage switchgear supports decarbonization of power grids with reduced CO2 footprint
- Industrialized and climate friendly primary blue GIS switchgear helps sustainable energy transition ahead of regulation
- Condition monitoring software from Siemens Xcelerator portfolio with integrated sensors and devices provide more asset transparency
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has expanded its range of sustainable and
digital medium-voltage switchgear to support the decarbonization of today's
power grids. The new F-gas-free blue GIS primary switchgear enables an early
transition to sustainable grids ahead of regulation. With a focus on industrialized
and high-end ratings up to 24kV and 2500A, Siemens has launched the 8DAB 24 and
upgraded the NXPLUS C 24.
- RUGGEDCOM RST2428P: a secure, high-port density advanced switching platform with Power-over-Ethernet
- Enables secure communications for high-speed, real-time control applications and SCADA systems in harsh environments
- Emphasis on high-bandwidth, low latency communications and cybersecurity features
As critical infrastructure networks are digitalizing
rapidly, OT networks must handle large data volumes from increasing IoT devices
in the field and connect intelligent electronic devices to IT systems securely.
To this end, Siemens has launched the RUGGEDCOM RST2428P, an advanced multilayer
Ethernet switching platform, designed to provide secure and error-free communications
for networks in harsh environments like electric power, transportation, or oil
and gas plants.
- Infrastructure for private industrial 5G networks with a focus on automation applications
- The solution is already in use at Siemens plants and pilot customers like Salzgitter AG
- 5G is crucial for mobile robots, autonomous logistics, driverless transport systems, and edge devices
For the first time, the technology company Siemens is launching a private infrastructure developed in-house for the 5G mobile communications standard. The solution enables industrial companies to build their own local 5G networks that will provide optimal support for automation applications. "By building their own 5G networks, industrial companies are launching the next stage of connected production," says Axel Lorenz, CEO of Process Automation at Siemens. "5G is crucial for applications like mobile robots, autonomous logistics, and driverless transport systems in factories. Siemens' private 5G infrastructure also gives users sole control over the data in their 5G network at all times, and they can custom-configure the network for their applications."
