Siemens is adding new servo motors to its proven Sinamics S210 single-cable servo drive system, thereby expanding its range of applications. Specifically, for use in the pharmaceutical and food industries, the company is launching the Simotics S-1FS2, a motor version with a stainless-steel housing, the highest degree of protection IP67/IP69, and high-resolution 22-bit absolute multiturn encoders. The servo motor thus meets all hygienic conditions and can be used for mixing and stirring, air conditioning and ventilating, dosing and filling, as well as conveying, packaging and storing a wide variety of end products in the food and beverage sector and in the pharmaceutical industry.

The flameproof Siemens low-voltage motor series Simotics XP is now available across the entire power spectrum from 0.25 to 460 kW in gas groups IIB and IIC. Furthermore, with the availability of premium IE3 efficiency, the low-voltage motors are ready for future energy efficiency requirements. In addition, Siemens offers motors with Chemstar technology, which provide a tailored motor solution for the chemical industry with pre-configured, chemical-specific options.

Siemens is presenting the Simotics SD motor series as part of the Digital Enterprise Virtual Experience at the Hannover Messe 2021. The standard version of Simotics SD is offered in the efficiency class Super Premium Efficiency (IE4) across the entire power spectrum from 2.2 to 1,000 kW and for the number of poles 2, 4, as well as from 75 kW for 6 poles and from 55 kW for 8 poles. Simotics SD in IE4 thus exceeds the so-called ErP Directive 2019/1781 (energy-related products) – both the first stage, which will be valid by July 2021, as well as the next, which will apply from July 2023. The directive defines the eco-design requirements for electric motors and speed control systems.

Siemens LDA has received an order from a Chinese customer to deliver a special machine with dual shaft extension. It can be used in motor operation with a power of 105 MW and as generator with up to 129 MVA in power generation mode. The motor will have an efficiency of beyond 98 percent and will be a world-leading 2-pole electric motor.Beside the motor, the contract includes the delivery of a 40 MW Sinamics GL150 starting frequency converter. This LCI-converter (load commutated inverter) is designed for single-motor applications with variable and constant torque characteristics. As a result of the low switching losses and the low loss thyristor technology, the efficiency of the LCI converter is extremely high and lies at 99 percent.

innovations to this year's Smart Production Solutions (SPS) trade fair in
Nuremberg. The first innovation relates to the Analyze MyDrives Edge
application, which is already established on the market. This is equipped with
a new feature that ensures transparency regarding the energy consumption of the
entire drive system. The AI-based feature of the Edge app calculates all data
without the need for additional sensors and special measuring devices. The app
shows how efficiently the drive runs, how high energy consumption and operating
costs are and what carbon footprint the drive leaves behind. Drive settings can
thus be optimized even better to customer needs.

software for drive constellations that can be used for both engineering and
commissioning on the basis of a digital twin. Sinamics DriveSim
Advanced thus expands the simulation portfolio for motion control drives at
Siemens, which was introduced to the market in 2021 with Sinamics DriveSim
Basic. At the same time, Sinamics DriveSim Advanced adds to the Industrial Operations X offering. With Industrial Operations X, Siemens offers a continuously growing interoperable portfolio of products and services for production engineering, execution, and optimization. Services for Drive Systems, Siemens is expanding its offering at the Hannover
Messe with an edge application. The Predictive Service Analyzer indicates
defects in the drive system at an early stage before they affect the entire
production. As a result, unplanned production downtime can be avoided and
maintenance times can be scheduled in good time, increasing plant availability
by up to 30 percent. By scheduling maintenance and servicing activities based
on actual demand, this increases productivity by up to 10 percent. The Predictive
Service Analyzer's AI-based solution detects early signs of anomalies, such as
those indicating mechanical damage in the motor, including bearing damage,
imbalance, and misalignment, as well as critical operating conditions of the
frequency converter. The app assesses the severity of the defect and the
expected remaining runtime and can thus predict potential future failures.
