The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority has ordered 14 S700 light rail vehicles (LRV) from Siemens Mobility. The new trains will operate in Phoenix, Arizona, in the U.S. They will be built at the Siemens Mobility facility in Sacramento, California. Valley Metro previously ordered 11 light rail trains from Siemens Mobility in 2017.

Eva
Riesenhuber will head Siemens’ Investor Relations Department, effective December
1, 2020. She is succeeding Sabine Reichel, who is leaving the company for
personal reasons after the financial reporting for fiscal 2020 is complete. In
recent years, Reichel has carried significant responsibility for Siemens’ highly
successful capital-market communications, which have received multiple awards.
Just last year, she and Siemens’ Investor Relations were honored with the
German Investor Relations Award. Her successor, Eva Riesenhuber, has been
CFO and General Partner at Next47, Siemens’ global start-up unit, since 2018. As
Senior Vice President for mergers and acquisitions, she was previously responsible
for
capital-market
transactions. At the
start of the fiscal year on October 1, 2020, the company’s investor relations
function will, in addition, be transferred to Controlling and Finance, where it
will report directly to the CFO.

With the new 3WA series, Siemens Smart Infrastructure is updating its Sentron portfolio of air circuit breakers. As a core element of low-voltage switchboards, they reliably protect electrical installations in buildings, infrastructures and industrial facilities from damage caused by short circuits, ground faults or overload faults. At the same time, the new 3WA circuit breakers meet all low-voltage power distribution requirements in digital environments. They support software-based planning and engineering, digital testing and monitoring, and seamless integration in automation and IoT systems. For the first time, upgrades can be completed 100 percent digitally. Users simply download new features from the Internet and add them using an app.

Siemens has completed its structural realignment and thus successfully
executed a key part of its Vision 2020+ strategy concept. This morning’s
listing in the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange completed
the quotation of Siemens Energy as a leader in the transmission and generation
of electrical power. This step begins a new chapter in the company’s history.
The independent Siemens companies Siemens AG, Siemens Healthineers AG and Siemens
Energy AG will work together within an ecosystem of common interests. In each
case, however, they will focus on the priorities and characteristics of their specific
businesses and industries. With some 240,000 employees, Siemens AG will
primarily concentrate on technologies that are driving advances in the digital
transformation of industry, in smart infrastructure and in sustainable transportation.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure and WUN H2 GmbH
signed a contract to build one of the largest hydrogen production plants in
Germany. It will be built in Wunsiedel in the north of Bavaria. With a power
intake of six megawatts in the initial development phase, the plant will run
solely on renewable energy and will be CO2-free. The electrolysis
plant from Siemens Energy will have the capacity to produce over 900 tons of
hydrogen per year in this first phase. When fully expanded, it will be able to
supply up to 2,000 tons. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the end of this year
and commissioning at the end of 2021.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract of approximately 135 million Euros by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) to install an automatic train control signaling system and half-height platform screen doors on the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Siemens Mobility will utilize its Trainguard Sirius solution and modern interlocking product Westrace to implement a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system across the entire 24 kilometers of track. In addition, Siemens Mobility will install platform screen doors at the 24 stations being built, which will support the GoA 4 automation of the line and allow for full unattended/automatic train operation. The project has been designed by an international team of Siemens Mobility in Singapore and Spain.

Siemens Energy commissioned an eco-friendly power transmission system complementing one of China’s largest offshore eight-megawatt (MW) wind turbines. The system consists of a SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride)-free gas-insulated high-voltage switchgear (GIS) called 8VM1 Blue GIS® and a liquid-immersed distribution transformer with ester fluid. It is part of a demo project by Shanghai Electric, located at Shantou Haojiang onshore Industrial Park on the east coast of Guangdong, South China.
