In a move that brings new market opportunities for industrial players, Siemens has developed a unique business model to support the next level of energy optimization for Finnish brewery Sinebrychoff, a subsidiary of the international Carlsberg Group. At the heart of the solution, which will be implemented at Sinebrychoff’s plant in greater Helsinki, is a virtual power plant (VPP) and the latest energy storage technology, supported with financing solutions, to create one of the first examples of power flexibility in an industrial site.

The Vectron Dual Mode locomotive from Siemens Mobility received authorization for operation in Germany from the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) on October 29, 2020. To date, Railsystems RP, Mindener Kreisbahnen GmbH, and Stern & Hafferl have ordered the Vectron Dual Mode. The Siemens Mobility Test Center in Wegberg-Wildenrath has also ordered a locomotive for delivery trips. The dual mode locomotives ordered by DB Cargo in September will also benefit from the authorization.

One highlight is the partnership with EOS and DyeMansion. Together, the three companies will present the first virtual additive manufacturing reference factory for selective laser sintering with polymers. Using the example of a midsole for footwear applications in which parameters such as design, fit and color are individually and economically taken into account, Siemens, EOS and DyeMansion will demonstrate what the next step towards the industrialization of selective laser sintering with polymers can look like along the entire production chain. Siemens Smart infrastructure is continually expanding its portfolio for climate-neutral power distribution. In the medium-voltage switchgear of the blue portfolio, the company has completely eliminated fluorine-based gas mixtures (F-gases) while retaining the compact design and safe, proven operation. An innovative load-break switch equipped with a special vacuum interrupter is the new centerpiece for F-gas-free medium-voltage applications in secondary distribution grids from 12 to 24 kV.

into a strategic partnership. The aim of both companies is to drive forward the
digital transformation of pharmaceutical processes worldwide. Zeta, a
specialist with many years of experience in major projects for the
biopharmaceutical industry, takes the role of the system integrator thanks to
their process expertise from the pharmaceutical sector. In partnership with
Zeta, Siemens acts as the system provider offering software platforms with
their Digital Enterprise Portfolio. The Comos plant engineering software
solution is the basis for the digital engineering platform, with
object-oriented data management and the use of intelligent templates for the
implementation of pharma-specific planning processes. In addition to the
integration of existing platform functions, Zeta and Siemens are developing new
