Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke
(LKW) has chosen sustainable medium-voltage switchgear from Siemens. The new
5-field NXPLUS C 24 system from the environmentally friendly blue GIS portfolio
of Siemens Smart Infrastructure was commissioned by the customer at the
Wiesengasse West substation in Schaan, Liechtenstein. This makes LKW one of the
first grid operators to convert an entire medium-voltage switchgear
installation to the climate-friendly insulating gas Clean Air.

Siemens is expanding its Cerberus PRO fire safety offering
with updated FC720 fire control panels, an IoT-enabled OOH740 detector equipped
for disturbance-free tests, and the Cerberus Connect mobile app that complements
the existing Cloud Apps. As a result, system integrators, service providers and
customers will benefit from resource optimization, simplified planning, and maintenance
as well as higher convenience during operations.

At Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE)
trade show, Siemens Smart Infrastructure will present a completely renewed
portfolio designed to accelerate the decarbonization of commercial, industrial,
and residential buildings. Under the motto “Transform the Everyday,” Siemens
will also display products and solutions for original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs) that make buildings more efficient, digital, connected, and comfortable.
MCE will take place from June 28 to July 1 in Milan, Italy.

As part of its 10-year strategic plan, ‘Transformation Morgan
2030: Leading the Future,’ Baltimore-based Morgan State University (MSU) has
partnered with Siemens on its journey to becoming a smart and connected campus
of the future. Improvements currently underway include implementing a series of
modernization upgrades to the university’s heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning (HVAC), security, and fire and life safety systems with a focus on
energy efficiency, resiliency and sustainability. All work is umbrellaed under
a master service agreement between Maryland Clean Energy Center, Siemens and
MSU to support the university’s campus transformation.

The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Energy and
Infrastructure selected Siemens technology for a nationwide network of
ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers which will help reduce carbon
emissions, boost adoption of EVs by addressing so-called range anxiety, and lay
the groundwork for a more connected and sustainable transportation system.

Siemens invests
USD 25 million and acquires a minority stake in U.S.-based WiTricity, a
wireless charging technology company. Siemens and WiTricity will work together
to drive innovation in the emerging market for wireless EV charging. This
market is expected to reach USD 2 billion by 2028 in Europe and North America
alone, according to Siemens’ calculations. The two companies seek to bridge the
gaps in the global standardization of wireless charging for electric passenger
and light duty commercial vehicles, to enable interoperability between vehicles
and infrastructure, as well as support market penetration. In addition, both
parties will collaborate to advance the technical development of wireless
charging systems.

Siemens has deployed integrated data center
management software at the largest and most energy efficient data center in the
Baltic region. The building management software (BMS), the energy and power
management software (EPMS) and the White Space Cooling Optimization (WSCO) help
Greenergy Data Centers to lower energy usage, ensure thermal protection and
manage reliable operation of the critical infrastructure.

In an
industry first, Siemens Smart Infrastructure announced an open, modular suite
of grid software to address the increasingly critical energy transition. The suite
is a game changer for established energy players and new stakeholders alike,
enabling them to be fast, agile and flexible when coping with existing and
future challenges. Siemens has already made significant steps to improve its offering
for smart meter data management such as a cloud native option or improved task efficiency by up to 85
percent by redefining the user experience. Siemens’ software also
enables customers to run grid protection simulations up to six times faster
than the current speed of execution, supporting utilities to better plan,
operate and maintain power networks. All upcoming modules of the software suite
from Siemens will be developed following specific design principles to interact
seamlessly and enable agility. At the same time, they will keep the power grid
cyber resilient while also creating a digital twin of the grid throughout
planning, simulation, real-time operations and maintenance of power grids.

Headquartered in the Spanish city of Bilbao, Iberdrola, one
of the world’s largest electric utilities and the world's largest wind power
producer, aims to become carbon neutral across Europe by 2030. To achieve this
goal, it is systematically implementing its environmentally-friendly and
sustainable business model. To this end, Siemens Smart Infrastructure has been
commissioned by i-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes SAU, the company responsible
for power distribution activities within the Iberdrola Group, to supply its sustainable
medium-voltage switchgear to the northern Spanish province of Burgos. This marks
the first installation of fluorine gas-free switchgear from Siemens’
climate-friendly blue portfolio at a customer site in Spain.
