Whether for workpiece handling, retooling, postprocessing or parallel
machining, robots and machine tools are working ever more closely together.
Companies in almost all industrial sectors already benefit from robots today.
But integrating robots into automation and exploiting their full potential poses
many challenges. Under the motto "Seamless and fast integration of robot
kinematics into automation", Siemens will be presenting at this year's
automatica (Hall B6, Booth 302) how companies can overcome these
challenges and how the digital and real worlds can be connected through
robotics and automation solutions.

Siemens is expanding its
offering around the Sinumerik One "digital native" CNC. The new CNC
generation from Siemens, which was introduced to the market in 2019, is also
coming up with innovations in software and hardware this year. With the new
Sinumerik V6.20 software, there are new technology functions for the Sinumerik
One that simplify operation, reduce machine wear, and increase productivity.
Siemens is thus demonstrating once again how the powerful Sinumerik One machine
tool control system can be optimally used for digital transformation in a
highly productive, flexible, and modular way.
- Performance optimized, easy to use and future-proof servo drive system
- Flexible and compact – scalable depending on the application
- Easy engineering thanks to integration in TIA, integrated web server and one-button tuning function
With Sinamics S200, Siemens is launching a new servo drive system designed
for a variety of standard applications in the battery, electronics as well as other
industries. It consists of a precise servo drive, powerful servo motors and
easy-to-use cables and offers high dynamic performance. Applications that
require precision in speed and torque, such as winding and unwinding machines in
battery manufacturing and cell assembly, particularly benefit from the new
servo drive system. For this purpose, Sinamics S200 offers optimized speed
ripple, cogging torque compensation, 17/21-bit ST and 21-bit MT encoders, and
cycle-synchronous communication for optimized performance by
Profinet IRT in minimum 250us.
- New V6 software generation with new functions like a single positioner to reduce the load of the controller, and EtherNet/IP to allow third-party controllers to be connected
- Simulation via DriveSim Advanced enables virtual commissioning in advance, ensuring drive process requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively
- New hardware architecture with functional enhancements like a second encoder interface and 3C3 (H2S and SO2) coating increases precision and robustness
Siemens is innovating the well-established Sinamics S210 servo drive system with a new hardware architecture and new V6 software generation that expand the system's range of applications. The servo drive system is especially suitable for applications with high dynamics in the power range between 50 W and 7 kW: for example, machines for packaging, pick & place applications, and digital printing.
- Siemens presents a new CNC for woodworking machines at the Ligna
- Sinumerik MC is the open CNC for customized processing machines
At the Ligna Woodworking Trade Fair 2019, Siemens is showcasing the Sinumerik MC control as a universal, open CNC system. Its optimized motion control, high-performance automation and the integrated Windows 10 operating system make it the ideal control, especially for wood, glass and stone cutting machines. With its open operating concept, the control system is also suitable for additive manufacturing, adhesive application, plate cutting, straightforward grinding, and laser or water jet cutting.
