For Siemens,

Siemens Mobility and Finnish rolling stock owner company Pääkaupunkiseudun Junakalusto Oy have agreed to test the European Train Control System ETCS in Finland. It is part of the Finnish DigiRail
project and is funded by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency
(Väylävirasto).The contract includes equipping two multiple-unit trainsets with
Trainguard OBU and ATO. This marks the first time that ETCS will be tested in
the Scandinavian country in accordance with the latest standard set in the
applicable European technical specification TSI 2023.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract of approximately 135 million Euros by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) to install an automatic train control signaling system and half-height platform screen doors on the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Siemens Mobility will utilize its Trainguard Sirius solution and modern interlocking product Westrace to implement a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system across the entire 24 kilometers of track. In addition, Siemens Mobility will install platform screen doors at the 24 stations being built, which will support the GoA 4 automation of the line and allow for full unattended/automatic train operation. The project has been designed by an international team of Siemens Mobility in Singapore and Spain.

Austrian
Federal Railways (ÖBB) inaugurated service today for the first Railjet of the
new generation from Siemens Mobility. The new train, featuring numerous
innovations, will initially operate on the Vienna-Feldkirch route. Excluding
the locomotive, the nine-car train is around 240 meters long and offers 532
seats. It has two first-class cars with business class sections, an on-board
restaurant with seating, four second-class (economy class) cars, a
multifunctional economy class car, and an economy class driving car. Technical
highlights include high-tech lightweight bogies, windows optimized for cellphone
reception, innovative power distribution systems with a redundant power supply
from the adjacent car, and a self-diagnosis system with a secure radio link to
the maintenance depot.
Deutsche Bahn
(DB) and Siemens Mobility are driving forward the climate-friendly transition
in transport and are testing the use of hydrogen for rail for the first time.
The aim is to test a completely new overall system consisting of a newly
developed train and a newly designed filling station.

Siemens Mobility has won the order for the delivery of 28 three-car
electric Mireo regional trains for the “Digital Node Stuttgart” (DKS) pilot
project of “Digital Rail Germany” (DSD). The trains will have complete DSD
equipment, including the latest automatic ETCS (European Train Control System) and Level 2 (GoA 2) Automatic Train Operation (ATO). The Mireo will be capable
of operating on steep grades and be approved for operation in Austria. The
framework agreement, signed with the State Institute for Rail Vehicles Baden-Württemberg
(SFBW), includes a ten-year maintenance contract with an option for extending
it by a further 20 years. The trains will be delivered in record time between
November 2025 and April 2026. The order is worth approximately €300 million.
Today,
Brightline announced that Siemens Mobility (Siemens) has been designated the
“preferred bidder” to build train sets for the Brightline West high-speed rail
project that will connect Las Vegas and Southern California. The contract will
include a fleet of ten “American Pioneer 220” (AP 220) train sets to be
manufactured, delivered to Nevada and tested to support Brightline West’s
timeline of initiating service in 2028.

Germany’s fastest regional train between
Bavaria and Thuringia is set to go. The new Franconia-Thuringia Express (FTX)
operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) is inaugurating service on the Nuremberg-Erfurt
high-speed line on June 9, with the scheduled so-called small timetable change.
The modern Siemens trains, ordered by the Free States of Bavaria and Thuringia,
will run at a top speed of up to 190 kilometers per hour. To date, only
long-distance trains have operated on the northern section of the VDE 8.1, the
designation for this new and upgraded line.

Siemens Mobility will fully digitalize the Finnentrop interlocking in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia within one year for DB Netz AG. A total of 404 interlocking units will be replaced, including signals, switch points and derailers. In addition, 15 level crossings will be equipped with digital interfaces and four of them will also receive new safety systems.

Siemens Mobility and prominent partners have won two innovative research projects from the German Center for Rail Traffic Research (DZSF) to study the safety of automated rail operations. The aim is to define the criteria needed for approving fully automated regional and mainline rail service. The two projects will be funded with €1.7 million and are scheduled to run for 30 months.
