- Memorandum of Understanding for joint holistic hydrogen system for rail
- Siemens Energy and Siemens Mobility decarbonize the mobility sector
Siemens Energy and Siemens Mobility have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and offer hydrogen systems for trains. The agreement was signed by Albrecht Neumann, CEO of Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility and Armin Schnettler, Executive Vice President (EVP) of New Energy Business at Siemens Energy. The project aims at jointly developing holistic hydrogen solutions for rail transport and offering them to customers to promote the hydrogen economy in Germany and Europe and support decarbonization in the mobility sector.
- Calibrant Energy to bundle latest distributed energy technologies and financing expertise of global leaders Macquarie and Siemens
- The joint venture will create Energy-as-a-Service solutions from a full range of energy technologies for corporate and municipal clients
Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Siemens Financial Services (SFS) today announced the formation of Calibrant Energy (Calibrant), a joint venture that offers comprehensive onsite Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) solutions at no up-front cost for its customers, which include corporate and industrial clients, as well as municipalities, universities, schools and hospitals.
- Valley Metro orders 14 additional light rail vehicles from Siemens Mobility
- Improved availability and enhanced passenger experience
The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority has ordered 14 S700 light rail vehicles (LRV) from Siemens Mobility. The new trains will operate in Phoenix, Arizona, in the U.S. They will be built at the Siemens Mobility facility in Sacramento, California. Valley Metro previously ordered 11 light rail trains from Siemens Mobility in 2017.
- Flexible addition of features via software protects investments
- New protection technologies prevent failures with distributed power supply
- Seamless integration in digital environments
With the new 3WA series, Siemens Smart Infrastructure is updating its Sentron portfolio of air circuit breakers. As a core element of low-voltage switchboards, they reliably protect electrical installations in buildings, infrastructures and industrial facilities from damage caused by short circuits, ground faults or overload faults. At the same time, the new 3WA circuit breakers meet all low-voltage power distribution requirements in digital environments. They support software-based planning and engineering, digital testing and monitoring, and seamless integration in automation and IoT systems. For the first time, upgrades can be completed 100 percent digitally. Users simply download new features from the Internet and add them using an app.
- Hydrogen production solely from renewable energy
- Exclusive hydrogen source for northern Bavaria and the border region in Czech Republic
- Cross-sector use of renewable energy as a model for the future
Siemens Smart Infrastructure and WUN H2 GmbH
signed a contract to build one of the largest hydrogen production plants in
Germany. It will be built in Wunsiedel in the north of Bavaria. With a power
intake of six megawatts in the initial development phase, the plant will run
solely on renewable energy and will be CO2-free. The electrolysis
plant from Siemens Energy will have the capacity to produce over 900 tons of
hydrogen per year in this first phase. When fully expanded, it will be able to
supply up to 2,000 tons. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the end of this year
and commissioning at the end of 2021.
- Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system to be installed on 24km of elevated Jurong Region Line in Singapore
- Half-height Platform Screen Doors to be installed at 24 stations throughout line
- The intelligent infrastructure will provide greater availability, enhanced operations, and will improve passenger experience
Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract of approximately 135 million Euros by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) to install an automatic train control signaling system and half-height platform screen doors on the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Siemens Mobility will utilize its Trainguard Sirius solution and modern interlocking product Westrace to implement a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system across the entire 24 kilometers of track. In addition, Siemens Mobility will install platform screen doors at the 24 stations being built, which will support the GoA 4 automation of the line and allow for full unattended/automatic train operation. The project has been designed by an international team of Siemens Mobility in Singapore and Spain.
- Built-in sensors, control functions, input/output and flexible power supply in one device
- Open KNX communication for integration from simple to advanced building management systems
- New slim and smooth design with touch buttons and rotary knob
- Fast installation and commissioning with the new ‘PCT Go’ app
Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI) is
launching its new RDG200 thermostat range for a healthy and productive indoor
climate. Room automation is key for protecting and enhancing the occupants'
health as well as increasing productivity at the same time for a safe return to
work. The new range follows this approach and includes two digital thermostat
variants for temperature and humidity control as well as advanced KNX
communication between sensors and actuators to Siemens’ building management
systems such as Desigo and Synco. This ensures good air quality with peace in
mind to have indoor climate under control. Designed for most commercial
buildings, including hotels, offices and educational buildings, the new RDG200
thermostats support all conceivable energy-saving strategies in rooms for more
cost-efficiency, including occupancy-based
savings via presence detection, key-card reader or system time program as well
as different setpoint limitations. With their modern design and the one-touch
Green Leaf button, the new thermostats display the energy efficiency status and
puts the user in charge of energy savings.
- Early delivery of three locomotives to Danish State Railways DSB
- Vectron approved in 20 countries
On September 15, 2020, the AC version of the Vectron locomotive received official approval from the Danish safety authority “Trafik-, Bygge og Boligstyrelsen” for operating in Denmark. The approval marks an important milestone for the commissioning of 42 Vectron locomotives ordered by Danish State Railways (DSB) from Siemens Mobility over the last two years. The first three locomotives will be delivered in September 2020.
- Enlighted Safe app helps track and trace employees who may have come in contact with an infected individual
- Allows organizations to potentially reduce the risk of virus transmission
- Provides insight into physical distancing events within the workplace
- Transparency into high-risk areas for better space management and planning
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has launched Enlighted Safe, a new workplace digital contact tracing app, which helps employees return safely to the workplace. Enlighted Safe provides greater transparency into the contact history of employees who are known to have tested positive for COVID-19. This is designed to support organizations in reducing the exposure of infection, keep healthy employees safe and productive, and eliminate the inefficient, expensive and error-prone manual contact tracing process for employers.
