The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority has ordered 14 S700 light rail vehicles (LRV) from Siemens Mobility. The new trains will operate in Phoenix, Arizona, in the U.S. They will be built at the Siemens Mobility facility in Sacramento, California. Valley Metro previously ordered 11 light rail trains from Siemens Mobility in 2017.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract of approximately 135 million Euros by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) to install an automatic train control signaling system and half-height platform screen doors on the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Siemens Mobility will utilize its Trainguard Sirius solution and modern interlocking product Westrace to implement a Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system across the entire 24 kilometers of track. In addition, Siemens Mobility will install platform screen doors at the 24 stations being built, which will support the GoA 4 automation of the line and allow for full unattended/automatic train operation. The project has been designed by an international team of Siemens Mobility in Singapore and Spain.

On September 15, 2020, the AC version of the Vectron locomotive received official approval from the Danish safety authority “Trafik-, Bygge og Boligstyrelsen” for operating in Denmark. The approval marks an important milestone for the commissioning of 42 Vectron locomotives ordered by Danish State Railways (DSB) from Siemens Mobility over the last two years. The first three locomotives will be delivered in September 2020.

Siemens Mobility's modern Inspiro trains and Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) Trainguard MT (TGMT) systems have gone into passenger service today on Line 3 of the Sofia Metro. The trains and systems will serve the third metro line of the Bulgarian capital, which was opened today in the presence of the Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov, the Mayor of Sofia Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova and the Executive Director of "Metropoliten" EAD Prof. Dr. Stoyan Bratoev.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract by Subterráneos de Buenos Aires, Sociedad del Estado (SBASE) to install a Communications-Based Train Control system (CBTC) on the ‘D’ Metro Line in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The CBTC signaling system will be fully implemented across the entire 11 kilometer line that incorporates 16 stations between “Catedral”, located in the historic Plaza de Mayo, and “Congreso de Tucumán”, located in the northern part, close to the borders of the city of Buenos Aires. The system will include the installation of onboard units on 24 existing cars, as well as a radio system, electronic interlockings, and wayside equipment. All elements of the system will be coordinated by a newly established operations control center. As part of the overall SBASE project to renovate the ‘D’ Metro Line, Siemens Mobility will also provide a passenger information system.

Michael
Peter will be Siemens Mobility’s sole CEO, effective July 10, 2020. Sabrina Soussan,
who has been his Co-CEO until now, will leave the company at her own request to
take on a new challenge outside Siemens AG. Until her contract ends on December
31, 2020, Ms. Soussan will remain available to Siemens Mobility in an
advisory capacity.

After the first C2 metro train from the first option in 2016 entered service in May, Stadtwerke München (SWM) has also called up the second and final options for 22 six-car metro trains from Siemens. When all trains are delivered, Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) will operate a total of 67 C2 trains on its system.

In February 2017, the Ministry for Transport in the state of Baden-Württemberg ordered 24 Mireo trains and 15 Desiro HC double-decker trains to be operated by DB Regio. This marked the first order for the new Mireo regional multiple-unit trains developed by Siemens Mobility. The Mireo has received initial approval from the German Railway Authority in time for the timetable change in June 2020. Plans call for gradually incorporating the Mireo trains in regional service (RB) on the Offenburg – Freiburg – Basel/Neuenburg (Rhine) route beginning with the timetable change in June 2020.

Siemens Mobility has been selected by Region Stockholm Extended Metro Administration to deliver rectifier stations and network stations for the new Stockholm Metro extension. The project is an expansion of the metro with a yellow line that will run from Odenplan to Arenastaden and extensions of the Blue line to Barkarby in the north west and to Nacka and Söderord in the south east. In addition, the Blue Line will be connected to the green Hagsätra branch, and a new section will be built between Fridhemsplan and Älvsjö. The project is worth about 21 Million Euros. Work will start immediately and will take several years to complete. Delivery will take place in stages during the construction period.
