ViaQuatro has successfully begun full operation of São Paulo’s entire Metro Line 4 with Siemens Mobility’s Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling. Since its first stretch opened in 2010, it has been the first fully automated metro line in South America that can operate with GoA 4, the highest grade of automation that allows trains to be automatically controlled and operated. The digitalized and optimized system allows for a more efficient and centralized control of operations, while also increasing the safety, availability, and capacity across the entire network.

BeAM, a leading machine manufacturer in the field of DED (Directed Energy Deposition) technology for additive manufacturing, and the global technology company Siemens announced at EMO 2019 their plans to further intensify their already successful collaboration. This is based on the successful piloting of Sinumerik One, the new CNC generation from Siemens. As a "digital native", the new controller features software for the creation of digital twins, which supports the seamless integration of hardware and software. BeAM is the first machine builder to equip an additive manufacturing machine - Modulo 250 - with a Sinumerik One. At EMO 2019, the world's first AM machine equipped with a Sinumerik One will be presented to the public at the Siemens booth in Hall 9, Booth H50. Visitors to EMO can see how the program simulation is operated on the machine using the Digital Twin of Production in the NX Virtual Machine software. „We are very excited to close the loop in the additive digital chain by bridging virtual simulation and actual deposition on our new Modulo 250 thanks to the integration of the new Sinumerik One. Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Shell Global Solutions International BV have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developing
low-carbon and highly efficient energy solutions that support the energy
transition. The agreement will focus on projects that produce green hydrogen
for industrial applications at Shell and its customers, as well as enhancing
collaboration in the areas of biofuels and circular chemistry. Under the MoU,
Siemens and Shell will create solutions that increase energy efficiency and
generate sustainable power, consisting of, but not limited to, digitalization,
efficient networks, and the production, distribution, and application of green
hydrogen. The partnership, inked with Siemens’ Electrification and Automation
business unit, has the potential to strengthen synergies for both parties. While
Siemens intends to work with Shell to accelerate the latter’s transition towards
net-zero operations, Shell seeks to supply Siemens and its affiliates with low
carbon products that reduce emissions across the supply chain, in Siemens’
operations, and in the use phase of Siemens products, consisting of but not
limited to supply of biofuels.

At this year's Formnext, the international trade fair for additive manufacturing, Siemens is demonstrating what sustainable additive manufacturing looks like. Using several use cases, the technology company shows how resources, carbon footprint and environmental impact can be reduced. For this purpose, the entire value chain of a product must be considered transparently. Then climate targets can be achieved, and an environmentally friendly industry can be designed.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s RDG200 thermostat series now offers a model that is
natively equipped with a CO2sensor and control functions. They allow the indoor air quality to be monitored
and adjusted to ensure a healthy and productive indoor air climate at all times
for people in the building, while maintaining efficient operation. When the air
quality deteriorates because the CO2concentration rises, the ventilation system
is automatically adjusted and ensures that the right amount of fresh air is
provided to the space.

RS Lease, the
leading private lessor of railway vehicles in Slovakia, and Siemens Mobility
have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 65 Vectron
locomotives. The agreement includes a fast delivery of 30 Vectron MS
locomotives, with the option to purchase an additional 35 locomotives of the
Vectron Multi System and Vectron Dual Mode variants.
