Siemens Smart Infrastructure will provide the charging infrastructure for 21 fully electric low-floor buses in Leipzig. VDL Bus & Coach received the associated contract from the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH, the public transport operator in Leipzig. The charging systems from Siemens will supply electrical energy to VDL buses on lines 74, 76 and 89 as well as at the Lindenau bus depot and are scheduled to go into operation in 2021. The electrification of local public transport is a major lever for sustainable urban planning. With its Mobility Strategy 2030, also the City of Leipzig aims to develop environmentally-friendly transport systems.

Siemens Gas and Power has entered into an
agreement with Total, a broad energy group, to advance new concepts for green liquified
natural gas (LNG) production. As part of the contract, Siemens Gas and Power is
conducting studies to explore a variety of possible
liquefaction and power generation plant designs, with the ultimate goal of decarbonizing
the production of LNG.

A consortium led by Siemens Gas and Power (Siemens Energy) has been awarded a turnkey contract for two converter stations for the Greek high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) link that will connect Crete, Greece’s largest and most populous island, with the mainland of Greece. The project will enable an exchange of electricity of up to 1,000 megawatts (MW) to enhance reliability of the power supply and facilitate integration of renewable energy sources in the power grid. Customer is Ariadne Interconnection S.P.S.A., a wholly owned entity of the Greek independent power transmission operator IPTO. Commissioning of the interconnector is scheduled for mid-2023. Total order volume for the consortium is €370 million.

In February 2017, the Ministry for Transport in the state of Baden-Württemberg ordered 24 Mireo trains and 15 Desiro HC double-decker trains to be operated by DB Regio. This marked the first order for the new Mireo regional multiple-unit trains developed by Siemens Mobility. The Mireo has received initial approval from the German Railway Authority in time for the timetable change in June 2020. Plans call for gradually incorporating the Mireo trains in regional service (RB) on the Offenburg – Freiburg – Basel/Neuenburg (Rhine) route beginning with the timetable change in June 2020.

Siemens has been awarded an order from Danish customer Semco Maritime to provide the main electrical equipment for the electrical service platform (ESP) of the offshore wind project Mayflower Wind LLC (Mayflower Wind). The project is located in a federal lease area approximately 25 miles south of Nantucket, Massachusetts in the United States, and will have a capacity to generate up to 1.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy. Siemens will supply the components for Semco Maritime by 2022.

issued new bonds with a total value of about €4 billion, including a
tranche of £450 million (about €500 million). The transaction closed
successfully today. The proceeds of the issuance will be used for general
corporate purposes. At roughly €16 billion, investor demand was almost four
times the issue volume.
