- Alpentherme boosts energy efficiency and climate neutrality
-
- Annual cost savings of more than €80,000 through comprehensive modernization efforts
In cooperation with Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Alpentherme Gastein is undertaking various modernization efforts to make one of Austria’s largest spas emissions-free. Alpentherme Gastein, which has six themed “worlds” covering 36,000 square meters, and Siemens have been long-term partners working to advance technological development and improve building solutions installed at the wellness establishment. They recently completed a joint project with an investment of approximately €1.7 million, transforming Alpentherme Gastein into a state-of-the-art facility with higher levels of energy efficiency and climate neutrality. Among other things, the upgrades consisted of adapting the entire hydronic heating system and swimming pool ventilation, including enlarging the heating registers. Adapting the system hydronics allows a large share of the required thermal energy to be generated by means of low-temperature heat pumps. This makes it possible to use recovered thermal energy sources and reduce energy generation costs. As a result, Alpentherme has cut its annual costs by approximately €82,000 while reducing carbon emissions by almost 370 tons per year.
- Purchaser is EntechWorld, end customer is Korea
National Railway
- Control centers ensure safe and reliable power supply for railway
infrastructure
- General power and traction power to be controlled and monitored
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has won a contract to deliver the main
control centers, based on Spectrum Power, to the Korean engineering company
EntechWorld headquartered in Seoul. The end customer is the national railroad
operator Korea National Railway. Starting in 2024,
the main SCADA control centers will control and monitor
the Korean railway system with more than 4,000 kilometers of tracks and about
3.5 million passengers daily. The control centers will ensure the reliable supply of energy to the entire rail network to
meet the highest security, safety and quality standards.
- Companies will jointly offer a technology portfolio for buildings, including everything from energy efficiency and user experience to connectivity, security and data analysis
Siemens Smart Infrastructure in Spain, a market leader in innovation and technology for smart buildings, and Telefónica Tech, Telefónica’s holding company for digital businesses with high growth potential in IoT, Big Data, Blockchain, Cybersecurity and Cloud, will be offering the Spanish market their services and solutions for smart buildings in one package.
- Certification up to SIL 3 / PL e for high personal and system safety
- Force-guided operation allows for use in railroad, signaling and elevator applications
- Simple assembly reduces time required for building control panels
The Sirius 3RQ1 series completes Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s portfolio of coupling relays for electrical systems in industry and infrastructure. With wide-range supply voltage from 24 to 240V AC/DC, the new force-guided devices are designed for universal use. They are certified up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (PL) e and approved for very high safety requirements. Among other things, coupling relays are used to amplify or multiply signals to and from controllers. The Sirius 3RQ1 coupling relays can also switch electrical loads directly. Thanks to their force-guided operation in accordance with IEC 60947-5-1 (IEC 61810-3), the devices offer maximum safety for people and systems. They are particularly well suited for use in railroad and signaling applications as well as in elevators and industrial production facilities, making it possible to safely control brakes and doors, for example, and to switch traffic lights, conveyor belts or packaging machines.
- Client PBW is in charge of public parking for universities and government offices
- Initially, about 200 of a total of 500 charging stations from different providers will be connected to the software, with more to follow quickly
- E-Car OC backend solution enables easy access to the charging infrastructure through different billing and payment systems
The chargers of Parkraumgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH (PBW) will soon be managed using the E-Car Operation Center (E-Car OC) software from Siemens Smart Infrastructure. The goal is to manage the charging infrastructure in public parking garages and parking lots in a flexible and future-proof manner. The software also allows the administration of power and billing data from charging stations of different manufacturers. This will make it possible to charge electric cars conveniently and flexibly in PBW parking lots – for example, at hospitals or universities – and to pay with a variety of payment systems via Giro-e, using an EC card. Initially, the software will manage about 200 charging stations, with more to follow in the near future.
