Making product data for plant components
available digitally and at all times – that is the basic idea of the so-called
Digital Data Chain (DDC). Siemens is a pioneer in mapping the entire digital
data chain as the company has now supplied Bayer's Crop Science Division with
several SITRANS P320 pressure transmitters with standardized ID links for
unique object identification. In this way, the associated instance-specific,
digital documentation according to VDI standard 2770 could be transferred
directly to the ERP system used by Bayer. "With the digital data chain,
plant operators save a lot of time and money," says Axel Lorenz, CEO
Process Automation at Siemens. "Currently, plant maintenance personnel
spend most of their working time searching for relevant information. In the
future, components at the field level can be identified quickly and reliably
via mobile devices. At the same time, all information about the component is
immediately available digitally – for example for operation or
maintenance."

all-electric crossover Nissan Ariya at the company’s plant in Tochigi, Japan. Both

For the first time in ten
years, Siemens is announcing a new generation of controllers, available in winter
of 2024, at Hannover Messe 2024. The Simatic S7-1200 G2 controllers are part of
the Simatic controller family. With this new generation of controllers, Siemens
is expanding its offerings and demonstrating how these latest innovations will
make automation and programming easier for customers.

Today, Siemens has announced the acquisition of
BuntPlanet, a technology company based in San Sebastian, Spain. BuntPlanet’s award winning software has been deployed around the world
to support customers with smart metering solutions, water quality, asset
management, and integration of hydraulic models and artificial intelligence for
detecting leaks and other anomalies in water networks. Siemens has had a
licensing agreement with BuntPlanet since 2019 to sell their leakage detection
software known as SIWA LeakPlus. With this acquisition, BuntPlanet’s entire
offering and team will be integrated with Siemens’ application portfolio for
water utilities making it even more comprehensive for water customers.

BeAM, a leading machine manufacturer in the field of DED (Directed Energy Deposition) technology for additive manufacturing, and the global technology company Siemens announced at EMO 2019 their plans to further intensify their already successful collaboration. This is based on the successful piloting of Sinumerik One, the new CNC generation from Siemens. As a "digital native", the new controller features software for the creation of digital twins, which supports the seamless integration of hardware and software. BeAM is the first machine builder to equip an additive manufacturing machine - Modulo 250 - with a Sinumerik One. At EMO 2019, the world's first AM machine equipped with a Sinumerik One will be presented to the public at the Siemens booth in Hall 9, Booth H50. Visitors to EMO can see how the program simulation is operated on the machine using the Digital Twin of Production in the NX Virtual Machine software. „We are very excited to close the loop in the additive digital chain by bridging virtual simulation and actual deposition on our new Modulo 250 thanks to the integration of the new Sinumerik One. The company has already integrated future technologies in its portfolio, such as its new machine tool controller specifically designed for digitalization, Edge and cloud computing, artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing, and is leading the machine tool world to the next level of digital transformation. "With our unique range of digitalization solutions, we are paving the way for the future of the machine tool industry and helping our customers, machine builders and machine users, to find new and more comprehensive ways of using rapidly growing data volumes to increase their productivity, quality and competitive edge", explains Dr. Wolfgang Heuring, CEO of Business Unit Motion Control. Messe, Siemens is presenting Sinamics DriveSim Advanced, an extended simulation
software for drive constellations that can be used for both engineering and
commissioning on the basis of a digital twin. Sinamics DriveSim
Advanced thus expands the simulation portfolio for motion control drives at
Siemens, which was introduced to the market in 2021 with Sinamics DriveSim
Basic. At the same time, Sinamics DriveSim Advanced adds to the Industrial Operations X offering. With Industrial Operations X, Siemens offers a continuously growing interoperable portfolio of products and services for production engineering, execution, and optimization. This offering brings more information technology (IT) and software capabilities to automation and production operations, making industrial operations more adaptable.
