Siemens offers charging system suppliers a new plug & play solution, which for the first time enables calibration of the Powerline signal level in line with CCS (Combined Charging System) CharIN Association Implementation Guidelines for the conductive charging of electric vehicles. The solution comprises the Simatic ET 200SP TM ECC PL ST charge controller and the TM ECC CCS calibration kit. When calibrating the signal quality of a DC CCS charge controller using the Siemens solution, there is no need for a spectrum analyzer, which makes the process quicker and easier. Manufacturers of charging stations can also save engineering effort as well as time and costs during commissioning and can reduce servicing to remedy charging interruptions by up to 50 percent. Siemens Smart Infrastructure will provide a charging solution for Dopravní podnik Ostrava (Ostrava Transit Authority), which will expand its fleet with 24 Solaris electric buses. The largest order for electric buses in the Czech Republic to date will include four Sicharge UC charging stations from Siemens. These high-power chargers provide an effective maximum of 400 kW each. Furthermore, Siemens will deliver 28 mobile chargers, electrical infrastructure as well as energy automation software.
S-Bahn Berlin GmbH has signed a framework contract with the consortium of Stadler Pankow GmbH and Siemens for the delivery of up to 1,380 vehicles. A firm order was placed for the first 106 trains. The 85 four-section and 21 two-section trains have a high triple-digit million-euro order volume. S-Bahn Berlin, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, plans to use the new trains on the Ringbahn lines (S 41 and S 42) as well as on the system's southeastern feeder lines S 47, S 46 and S 8. These lines comprise roughly one-third of the entire S-Bahn network in Berlin. The first ten vehicles will be ready to enter service as of 2020. Subsequently, all remaining vehicles will be delivered continuously to the Berlin system up to 2023. The vehicles will be manufactured and assembled at the Berlin plant operated by Stadler Pankow GmbH.
Media representatives got a first-hand impression of the new Vienna Metro during a test drive on the 14th April 2021 – in the presence of Public Transport City Councillor Peter Hanke, Wiener-Linien Managing Director Günter Steinbauer and Siemens Mobility CEO Arnulf Wolfram. After the successful approval of operation, the so-called 'X-Wagen' will be in use for all Viennese on the four lines U1 to U4 from 2022. With the completion of the new U5 in 2026, the new vehicles will also be running fully automatically.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has launched the new Sentron 3NA COM LV HRC fuse link with integrated communication and measurement functionality. The compact device is designed for 400 volts low-voltage grids and can be used in secondary substations and industrial plants. The LV HRC fuse link protects grids and plants against short circuits and overloads and is capable of measuring current. The collected data is sent wirelessly to the new 7KN Powercenter 1000 data transceiver where it can be retrieved. In addition, it can be transferred to local or cloud-based grid and energy management systems. Among other things, the data provides insight about the current network load, phase symmetry and any irregularities. This makes it possible to increase the supply security and optimize maintenance and service. Thanks to faster fault detection and location, the duration of power outages can be significantly reduced.

Siemens is presenting Sitrans SCM IQ, a new Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution for Smart Condition Monitoring, at the Hannover Messe 2021. It enables potential incidents to be detected and prevented at an early stage, thus reducing maintenance costs and downtimes, and increasing plant performance by up to ten percent. The wireless, robust Sitrans MS200 multisensors form the hardware basis for installation on machinery such as pumps, gear units, compressors, and drive trains, where they collect vibration and temperature data. Via a Bluetooth connection, this data is sent to the Sitrans CC220 industry gateway where it is encrypted before being transmitted from there to the cloud, in this case the MindSphere industrial IoT-as-a-Service solution. The anomaly detection of the Sitrans SCM IQ system is based on machine learning. It constantly monitors and analyzes all sensor values and detects deviations from the normal operating state in advance. Anomaly notifications are sent via SMS and/or email, depending on the configuration and defined user group. The app can be used to document the anomalies of machinery behavior and makes them available to a specific circle of users. The Sitrans SCM IQ system comprises multisensors, gateway and app, and can be used in all industrial plants with mechanical or rotating components. It is scheduled to be available from summer 2021.
