From 14 to 17 September 2017, representatives from the worlds of politics and industry met at the New Mobility World to shape the future of mobility across industries. The event took place within the context of the IAA 2017. Under the banner "Shaping future mobility systems – from understanding to optimizing," Siemens exhibited at Booth 39 in Hall 3.1 with an array of current applications and solutions surrounding the topics of charging technology for electric vehicles and intelligent communication systems linking vehicles and infrastructure. Siemens offers a wide range of products and solutions that help shape the future of mobility already today.
"Lead the TRANSITion" was the motto of this year's UITP International Mass Transit Trade Show in Montreal. At the bi-annual Global Public Transport Summit, the Siemens Mobility Division was again be represented this year with intelligent mobility solutions. From May 15 to 17, 2017, at booth (SK100) on Level 02 of the Conference Center, Siemens was showcasing integrated and sustainable transport solutions which help to get the best out of existing infrastructures – using not only state-of-the-art hardware but also intelligent management systems. This is the only way to deliver future-proof mobility services in the face of rising energy costs, limited space and growing demands. Digitalization of proven transport solutions plays a key role in achieving this goal, as it allows availability and passenger comfort to be improved and throughput to be maximized.
Our world is becoming increasingly digitalized – influencing everything from our communication with one another to the way we develop, produce and consume goods and services. The digitalization megatrend has not bypassed the rail sector. Siemens has kept pace here, too, and was exhibiting at the Innotrans 2016 with a focus on the digital transformation of rail transport.

Intelligent intersections and information signs woring in concert with vehicles to make traffic safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly.
From April 5 through 8, Siemens was keeping the world up to speed with its traffic control developments. During these four days, the company was presenting its latest road transport management innovations at Intertraffic.
This year's international public transport fair UITP was held in Milan from June 08 to 10. Once again, Siemens was showcasing its products in Hall 4, Booth 4F150.
A new and exciting exhibition opens its doors on 8th October 2013 in London at the Crystal. Presented by engineering experts Siemens in conjunction with London Transport Museum and media specialists CBS Outdoor UK, 'Going Underground: Our journey to the future' will showcase future developments for metro-style trains and stations. At the heart of the exhibition will be a full-size mock up of a brand new concept metro train – the Siemens Inspiro. A mix of interactive exhibits on display - housed in a temporary 'station' building - will focus on technologies to help travellers find their way more easily, electronic ticketing developments, passenger information systems and station management solutions. "Going Underground" is free to enter and will be open for a three month period. It will be located on the site of The Crystal in Royal Victoria Docks, London.
Together with Munich Mayor Christian Ude, Siemens President and CEO Peter Löscher has laid the foundation stone for the company's new headquarters building, which will be completed on Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich by the end of 2015. The future inner-city complex will provide employees with a 21st-century working environment and be freely accessible to the general public at ground level. Siemens has set the highest standards for sustainability for its new headquarters, and will fulfill the criteria for minimum energy consumptions in buildings.
On Wednesday, Jan 23, 2013 the Desiro RUS type regional train was sent off on its first trip with passengers on board. The start button was pressed by Valentin Gapanovich, Senior Vice President of Russian Railways (RZD), Dmitry Pegov, General Director of High-Speed Passenger Service at RZD, Alexander Drozdenko, Governor of the St. Petersburg Region, and Jochen Eickholt, CEO of the Siemens Rail Systems Division. The train – named "Lastochka" (Little Swallow) in Russia – departed from Moscow Station in St. Petersburg and traveled via Chudovo to Veliky Novgorod. In future, the train will offer a daily service on this route as well as on the St Petersburg–Chudovo–Bologoye route during the winter timetable. Passenger service in Sochi and Kazan is also planned to start by the end of the 2013.
"When RZD and Siemens commenced production of the Latochka series at the Siemens plant in Krefeld, Germany, in April 2011, we were aiming to put the new regional trains into service by autumn 2013 – a very ambitious plan at that time, in our opinion. But we managed to ship the first trains sooner and to complete the testing and homologation phase considerably earlier than planned. This is why we are now able to commence revenue passenger service in January 2013. I am certain that Lastochka will also overcome all the challenges it encounters in operation in Sochi," said Jochen Eickholt.
Siemens has entered into an agreement to acquire Invensys Rail, the rail automation business of Invensys for approximately €2.2 billion (£1.742 billion). At the same time, the company plans to divest its baggage handling, postal and parcel sorting activities. Both planned transactions are part of the recently launched "Siemens 2014" company program, which amongst others, is aimed at strengthening the company's core activities.
