Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract by Companhia de
Transportes do Estado da Bahia to install a Communications-Based Train Control system (CBTC), GoA2, on
the extension of Line 1 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The CBTC
signaling system will be fully implemented across the approximately
five-kilometer extension that will connect Pirajá to Águas Claras/Cajazeiras,
including two new stations. The full
integration of the extension to the existing Line 1 will provide
for greater availability, enhanced operations, and a better passenger
experience. This contract builds on the already
well-established relationship Siemens Mobility has with the Salvador Metro and
CCR Metrô Bahia.
The Berlin
Transport Association (BVG) and Siemens Mobility have signed a contract for the
construction of a Sicas ECC electronic interlocking at Alexanderplatz subway
station. The new interlocking is to cover the approximately 3.5-kilometer route
between the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and Spittelmarkt subway stations. In addition
to the indoor system, the scope of order includes new cables, a cable system
and around 150 K140 signals (main, pre, emergency and protection signals). The
line, which comprises a total of five stations, runs underground on two tracks
in a tunnel with a small clearance gauge. The project, which has a total volume
of around €13 million, will start laying cables in November 2021 and will be
completed in summer 2024.

Based Train Control (CBTC) Trainguard MT (TGMT) systems will serve the final
section of Line 3 of the Bulgarian capital, which was opened on the 24th
April 2020.
The products in Siemens Mobility trains meet the
highest cyber security standards. This was recently confirmed by TÜV SÜD, which
approved Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock with the IEC 62443 4-1 certificate.
This award confirms, 18 months after the IEC 62443 2-4 / 3-3 certification, the cyber
security throughout the entire product development process.
Media representatives got a first-hand impression of the new Vienna Metro during a test drive on the 14th April 2021 – in the presence of Public Transport City Councillor Peter Hanke, Wiener-Linien Managing Director Günter Steinbauer and Siemens Mobility CEO Arnulf Wolfram. After the successful approval of operation, the so-called 'X-Wagen' will be in use for all Viennese on the four lines U1 to U4 from 2022. With the completion of the new U5 in 2026, the new vehicles will also be running fully automatically.
S-Bahn Berlin GmbH has signed a framework contract with the consortium of Stadler Pankow GmbH and Siemens for the delivery of up to 1,380 vehicles. A firm order was placed for the first 106 trains. The 85 four-section and 21 two-section trains have a high triple-digit million-euro order volume. S-Bahn Berlin, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, plans to use the new trains on the Ringbahn lines (S 41 and S 42) as well as on the system's southeastern feeder lines S 47, S 46 and S 8. These lines comprise roughly one-third of the entire S-Bahn network in Berlin. The first ten vehicles will be ready to enter service as of 2020. Subsequently, all remaining vehicles will be delivered continuously to the Berlin system up to 2023. The vehicles will be manufactured and assembled at the Berlin plant operated by Stadler Pankow GmbH.
Shifting freight transport to rail has its limitations. Therefore, a share of this transport will need to be carried out by trucks that combine reliable service with minimum environmental impact. The eHighway system is twice as efficient as conventional internal combustion engines. This Siemens Mobility innovation supplies trucks with power from an overhead contact line. This reduces local air pollution and contributes significantly to the decarbonization of the transport sector.

The cars will be delivered from 2024 to 2026 and the order is valued at around half a billion EUR.

Siemens Mobility and DB Systemtechnik have signed a cooperation agreement to modernize a locomotive of the series 101 with an upgraded Siemens ETCS solution Trainguard 200 Onboard Unit system. The locomotive is part of DB Systemtechnik’s fleet and is used for test- and acceptance runs. It will now be upgraded to the European train control system ETCS level 2. At its core, the project aims to develop an interface solution that can be easily implemented for subsequent retrofitting and integration of ETCS and LZB into the vehicle architecture, independent of the train manufacturer. With this technical integration solution, a major step towards the successful retrofitting of entire fleets in the context of the Digital Rail for Germany program is made. Siemens Mobility has demonstrated its retrofit experiences and capabilities already in various retrofit projects throughout Switzerland, Great Britain, Spain and Germany.
