section of Line 3 of the Bulgarian capital, which was opened on the 24th
April 2020.

The 3.8 km long line consisting of 4
stations,
which will connect Sofia's Ovcha Kupel and Gorna Banya districts with the city center, was
officially opened in the presence of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova , the executive
director of Metropolitеn EAD, Prof. Dr. Stoyan Bratoev, managers of Siemens
Mobility EOOD and guests.
As the first section of metro line 3, launched in
the middle of last year, the new expansion will be served by Siemens Mobility's modern Inspiro trains and
Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) Trainguard MT (TGMT) systems.
Along the improved
passenger experience and speed, the third metro line will have a
significant environmental effect, reducing traffic in the areas where the subway operates by up to 25% the traffic and saving over 11,000 tons of harmful emissions per year.
