- FIA and Siemens extend partnership to provide the ‘FIA Mobility Advocate’— a unique software and hardware toolkit — for FIA Mobility Member Clubs to strengthen advocacy of future transport solutions
As an
“Official Supplier of Urban Mobility Advocacy Solutions” for the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body of world motor sport and
the federation of the world's leading motoring organisations, Siemens plans to
develop a toolkit of software solutions for FIA Member Clubs to help them
provide an evidence-based approach to advocate for the implementation of mobility
policies and strategies. The ‘FIA Mobility Advocate’ combines modeling for
mobility, autonomous vehicles, and the environment, with enhanced analysis
outputs to help meet current future mobility goals.
- Sitrans CC240 IOT gateway provides standardized access to the lifecycle data of HART® devices
- Reduced service effort thanks to faster identification and removal of measuring and parameterization errors without additional parameterization tools
- Compatible with all OPC UA client applications
- Direct connection to Siemens MindSphere
- Numerous possible applications for on and off-premise solutions
Siemens presents the Sitrans CloudConnect 240: a new IOT gateway for the process industry. It provides a second data channel, completely independent of the control system, which is used to transmit data from any HART®-based field devices to the IT world.
- Grazia Vittadini from Airbus and
Kasper Rørsted from Adidas are being proposed to Siemens’ shareholders as new Supervisory
Board members
- Jim Hagemann Snabe to be nominated
again as candidate for Supervisory Board chair
- Proposals underscore importance of
diversity, sustainability and digitalization for Siemens’ Supervisory Board
- Election to be for a four-year term
in each case
Siemens is
proposing two candidates for election as new Supervisory Board members by its
shareholders at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on February 3, 2021:
Grazia Vittadini (51), Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive
Committee at Airbus, and Kasper Rørsted (58), CEO of Adidas AG.
- Declared intermediate target for CO2 reduction achieved
- Sustainability index embedded into Managing Board compensation system
- Innovative digital ESG tool provides basis for comprehensive review of
sustainability risks in customers’ business operations
- Top ratings in Dow Jones Sustainability Index, in particular for innovation,
environment and cybersecurity
Siemens has
achieved its declared intermediate target for carbon reduction. The company has reduced the carbon footprint
of its own value chain by more than half (54%) since 2014. Siemens has thus exceeded
– by four percentage points – its goal of halving its global carbon
dioxide (CO2) emissions by
2020. Including Siemens Energy, the company has reduced its carbon emissions by
around 1.2 million tons of CO2 compared to its 2014 levels. Four
levers are being used to reduce carbon emissions: expanding the energy
efficiency program, using distributed energy systems, purchasing green power, and
reducing emissions in the vehicle fleet. Siemens intends to achieve climate
neutrality in its business operations by 2030. The company has recently published these details and other up-to-date information
on sustainability.

- Siemens and Merck announce project partnership
- Cooperation will drive forward modular production (Plug&Produce) based on the MTP and POL standard
- Quick adaptation to process requirements with little effort
- A one stop solution with hardware and software components from Siemens
Siemens and science and technology company Merck will work together in future at Merck's headquarters in Darmstadt to develop a technical backbone for the modular production of the future. The aim is to create a production line that flexibly combines various individual process modules and to use Module Type Package (MTP) and Process Orchestration Layer (POL) technology to drastically reduce engineering effort. At the same time, it should be possible to adapt quickly to process requirements. With its integrated product range covering all production levels (field to MES), Siemens is able to provide all the necessary hardware and software components from its own product portfolio.
- Early detection of anomalies in the drivetrain with the support of artificial intelligence
- Trend Prediction for optimized maintenance efficiency
- Higher productivity and reduced machine and system downtime
Siemens has supplemented the Mindsphere application Predictive Service Assistance with an AI-based module. The new Artificial Intelligence module identifies concrete fault patterns in motors at an early stage, such as misalignment or a defective bearing. The application thus helps users to reduce downtimes and further improve spare parts and maintenance processes. The new Artificial Intelligence module for motors uses a neural network to solve what was previously implemented using a defined KPI limit value. This enables the module to detect anomalies even before the defined limit value and provides clear indications of the type and severity of faults and their development. As soon as the application detects signs of an error, it warns the user and generates a due date that indicates when the error should ideally be corrected and what corrective action is recommended to prevent an unplanned downtime. Predictive Service Assistance with the new AI-based Artificial Intelligence module is offered as part of a Predictive Service Assessment. The package includes a customized configuration service that ensures that the Mindsphere application with the new AI-based module runs optimally according to the customer's requirements.
- Industrial Edge V1.0 comprising the Edge Management system, edge apps, and edge devices with container-based runtime

- High-frequency data exchange between Sinamics drives and the Industrial Edge platform
- Drive System Framework for connectivity, management, and configuration of the Digital Twin
- Paving the way for new business models
As part of
the Digital Enterprise SPS Dialog, Siemens is launching Analyze MyDrives Edge,
its first edge application for drives. The company is thus demonstrating in
concrete terms how edge computing can make Sinamics drive systems even more
intelligent and what benefits users and machine builders can derive from it.
Analyze MyDrives Edge is being launched with basic functionalities similar to
the proven Mindsphere application Analyze MyDrives but will be enhanced with
intelligent features based on high-frequency data exchange. The Edge
application thus allows users of machines and industry applications to perform
complex analyses of data that is already collected in the drive. Machine
learning and AI algorithms on which the edge application is based identify
patterns and detect anomalies and their causes, thus providing timely
indications of any pending machine maintenance. This minimizes downtimes and
reduces the consumption of resources.
