How Siemens is helping swimming pools save energy
Siemens Mobility and DB Systemtechnik have signed a cooperation agreement to modernize a locomotive of the series 101 with an upgraded Siemens ETCS solution Trainguard 200 Onboard Unit system. The locomotive is part of DB Systemtechnik’s fleet and is used for test- and acceptance runs. It will now be upgraded to the European train control system ETCS level 2. At its core, the project aims to develop an interface solution that can be easily implemented for subsequent retrofitting and integration of ETCS and LZB into the vehicle architecture, independent of the train manufacturer. With this technical integration solution, a major step towards the successful retrofitting of entire fleets in the context of the Digital Rail for Germany program is made. Siemens Mobility has demonstrated its retrofit experiences and capabilities already in various retrofit projects throughout Switzerland, Great Britain, Spain and Germany.
The state of Baden-Württemberg has ordered three Mireo Plus B trains from Siemens Mobility. The battery-electric trains will ensure locally emission-free traffic on the new Hermann-Hesse-Bahn between Renningen and Calw from 2023. Siemens Mobility will additionally take over maintenance of the trains over their entire service life. By being equipped with the latest European Train Control System, the Mireo Plus B trains are equipped for ETCS Level 2 operation. This new standard offers more track capacity, greater punctuality as well as interoperability in cross-border rail traffic. The reorder option became possible as part of a past order for 20 Mireo Plus B for the Ortenau network in 2020.
The products in Siemens Mobility trains meet the
highest cyber security standards. This was recently confirmed by TÜV SÜD, which
approved Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock with the IEC 62443 4-1 certificate.
This award confirms, 18 months after the IEC 62443 2-4 / 3-3 certification, the cyber
security throughout the entire product development process.
ÖBB is investing in a new maintenance fleet with 50
low-emission high-performance maintenance vehicles, including 6 cab cars. The Austrian
vehicle manufacturer Plasser & Theurer has been awarded to modernize the
ÖBB fleet and selected Siemens Mobility as trusted ETCS onboard unit partner to
equip the fleet with the latest European train control system (ETCS). The
Trainguard ETCS Level 2 solution that it deployed to ÖBB is based on the latest
Baseline 3 Release 2 standard. To ensure an economical transition to ETCS a
unified cabinet design with standardized interfaces is applied. The new
maintenance fleet is intended to operate throughout the ÖBB network and
cross-border to Germany. To operate in Germany the vehicles will additionally
be equipped with the Siemens PZB solution Trainguard Basic Indusi (TGB-I). TGB-I
with ETCS is a smart combination for operation on both existing and ETCS lines
thanks to proven and harmonized interfaces. By end of 2023 the first vehicles
will operate on the new high-speed Koralmbahn. The contract includes the option
to equip additional 46 high performance maintenance vehicles.
Our state of the art Inspiro trains and Communications
Based Train Control (CBTC) Trainguard MT (TGMT) systems will serve the final
section of Line 3 of the Bulgarian capital, which was opened on the 24thApril 2020.
Siemens has recently been contacted by groups and individuals expressing their opinion on the Adani Carmichael coal mine project in Queensland, Australia.
To whom it may concern,First of all, I do want to thank you for the countless
mails, social media engagements and personal meetings over this important matter.
The vast majority has been addressing their concerns clearly and with respect.
For me, this only underscored the importance and the need to diligently look
into the issue at hand. Especially, the messages I’ve received from Australian
people have moved me personally, when they described that their homes and their
country is burning and suffering from these terrible fires.Even though we do not have clear evidence that the wildfires
and this project are directly connected, I feel empathy for all those, who
spoke up and warned about worsening conditions. Siemens, as one of the first companies
to have pledged carbon neutrality by 2030, fundamentally shares the goal of
making fossil fuels redundant to our economies over time.
