Siemens Mobility to install a 2,000 km state-of-the-art high-speed rail network that will connect 60 cities throughout the country with trains that can operate up to 230 km/h. The integrated system will create the 6ᵗʰ largest high-speed rail network in the world, and will provide 90% of Egyptians access to a modern, safe, and affordable transportation system. The fully electrified network will cut carbon emissions by 70% compared to current car or bus transport, further supporting Egypt’s efforts in transforming its mobility to a more sustainable one. Siemens Mobility will deliver 41 Velaro high-speed trains, 94 Desiro High Capacity regional train sets, and 41 Vectron freight locomotives. This contract also includes the development of eight depots and yards and 15 years of maintenance.

Siemens Mobility and its consortium partners Orascom
Construction and The Arab Contractors have signed a contract with the Egyptian
National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), a governmental authority under the
jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport of Egypt, to create the sixth largest
high-speed rail system in the world. The Siemens Mobility share of the combined
contract is 8.1 billion EUR and includes the initial contract of 2.7 billion
EUR for the first line signed September 1, 2021.

A Siemens Mobility led consortium that includes Concord Corporation Pte Ltd. has been awarded a contract by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the design, supply, testing, and commissioning of the power supply system for the future Jurong Region Line. The system will be designed to be upgradeable, with interfaces for connecting power supply and signaling that will meet industry standards.

Siemens Mobility, along with consortium partners ST
Engineering and Stadler, have been awarded an Electrical and Mechanical (E&M)
turnkey contract to deliver the Yellow Line for Kaohsiung Metro. Siemens
Mobility will provide its state-of-the-art CBTC signaling technology with GoA4
functionality, which will allow for full automated train operations (ATO). Furthermore,
Siemens Mobility will deliver its highly reliable and precise Airlink radio
communication system which will facilitate the communication of wayside and
onboard signaling equipment, that will be installed on the new trains.

VGF,
Frankfurt’s public transport provider, will replace the conventional train control
system currently used in its metro and tram network with a new,
state-of-the-art digital system. The “Digital Train Control System Frankfurt” is
one of the company’s most important projects for the future. Following a public
procurement procedure initiated in early 2021, the VGF is now awarding the important
contract to Siemens Mobility.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a €270 million contract by Sporveien AS in Oslo, Norway to install and maintain a Communications-Based Train Control system (CBTC) on the Oslo Metro. Siemens Mobility will completely replace the current legacy signalling with its digitalized CBTC technology which will provide greater automation and connectivity, allowing for a more efficient and centralized control of operations. Specifically, the optimization and renewal of the complete 94 km network will increase the availability, safety, and capacity of the Oslo Metro, while also equipping it to meet the future demands for mobility and the need for any potential expansions or upgrades. As part of this contract, Siemens Mobility will design, integrate, test, and commission the system, while also providing digital maintenance and support services for the CBTC system for 25 years.

Siemens Mobility GmbH and VTG Rail Europe GmbH signed a contract to test the innovative Brake Monitoring System (BMS) for automated brake testing of freight trains to prove the system’s operational capability. The BMS ensures an automatic brake test on each wagon of a train. The expected efficiencies generated for freight operators will result in a great market potential across Europe.

Siemens Mobility is honored to announce that it has signed a contract with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), in witness of the Egyptian Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, as well as the German Ambassador in Egypt to deliver a comprehensive rail system that will feature the first ever high-speed, electrified main and freight rail line that will transform transportation in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Together with partners Orascom Construction S.A.E. and The Arab Contractors, Siemens Mobility will provide its comprehensive turnkey services to design, install, commission, and maintain the systems for 15 years. The total contract value is approximately USD 4.5 billion, of which Siemens Mobility’s share is around USD 3 billion. The vast majority of the order intake is expected to be booked in 2022 after financial closing. It is the first contract to be signed from the MoU agreed upon between NAT and Siemens Mobility, Orascom Construction and The Arab Contractors in January 2021.The
contract signed today covers the initial 660 km out of the 1800 km rail network
planned. Additionally, it was agreed to discuss and finalize
the agreements on the two other high-speed railway lines including rail
infrastructure and trains, and maintenance in the coming months.

to provide the technology for an intelligent traffic
management system that facilitates the exchange of safety information between
vehicles and the road. The “Cooperative Intelligent Transport System”
(C-ITS) is a next generation traffic management system that uses
broadcast technology to analyze roadway conditions and disseminates information
to motorists relating to traffic jams, accidents, and lane
closures. ASFiNAG is the first infrastructure
provider in Europe to reach the milestone of installing a network connecting
the vehicle and road. The process of implementing the system across 2,200
kilometers of highway and expressway in Austria has already started.
