The Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) production facility in Jordbro south of Stockholm has reached a new milestone. In less than a year, the 70,000 m² plant has slashed its energy use by 13 percent, thanks to a major energy efficiency project executed with Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

Siemens has successfully
closed the sale of Flender GmbH to The Carlyle Group for €2.025 billion
(enterprise value). In October 2020, Siemens announced its plans to sell the specialized
supplier of mechanical and electrical drive systems to Carlyle. Now that the relevant
authorities have granted the required approvals, the transaction has closed. As
previously announced, the sale of Flender results in a disposal gain of a euro
amount in the mid-triple-digit millions for Siemens AG.

Siemens Mobility will fully digitalize the Finnentrop interlocking in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia within one year for DB Netz AG. A total of 404 interlocking units will be replaced, including signals, switch points and derailers. In addition, 15 level crossings will be equipped with digital interfaces and four of them will also receive new safety systems.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure plans to transform its global headquarters in Zug, Switzerland, into a carbon neutral location by 2023. To achieve this, a comprehensive renovation of an existing building on Theilerstrasse 1c will commence in May 2021 for a period of two years. Siemens has earmarked around EUR 63 million (CHF 70 million) for the refurbishment works.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure introduces the new KNX Touch Control TC5 room operator unit. It makes passive buildings adaptive, consequently boosting the evolution of smart building technologies. With its individually configurable controls, the easy-to-use device simplifies the operation and display of all relevant functions. Thanks to the capacitive 5.0-inch color touch display featuring a contemporary, attractive design, the new device is ideally suited for use in commercial buildings such as conference rooms, offices and hotels. With its flexible mounting concept, Touch Control TC5 can be used worldwide.

The Circle at Zurich Airport is a new 30,000 m2 building complex that features shops, restaurants, services, hotels and a conference center under one roof. Siemens installed over 30,000 components for the building and energy technology of the large complex, making an active contribution to its sustainable design. The company’s technology ensures the daily 25,000 visitors to The Circle experience a safe and energy-efficient environment.

ÖBB and Siemens Mobility presented the first painted car body and exterior design for the new generation of the Nightjet in Vienna today. The new, ultra-modern trains will enter service near the end of 2022 and will first be used on connections from Austria and Germany to Italy. The first 13 trainsets have already been called up by ÖBB from a framework agreement with Siemens Mobility, and a further 20 trains are expected to be called up this year.

Siemens Mobility will sign a contract in the Netherlands with the joint venture RiVier (NS, HTM and RET) to develop a countrywide, intelligent Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform. The MaaS platform to be delivered in the autumn will allow providers to integrate travel planning. The technological core of the MaaS platform is supplied by Siemens Mobility subsidiaries Hacon and eos.uptrade.
