- 106 new trains delivered on schedule and in passenger service
- New trains offer a high level of comfort, state-of-the-art passenger information and cameras for greater security
- Ceremonial delivery of last train of the new 483/484 series to enter service
The new Berlin S-Bahn fleet has been completed today: all 106 trains of
the new series are now in service. The trains, equipped with air conditioning, state-of-the-art
passenger information systems and cameras for greater security, offer passengers a new level of
comfort and convenience. The new fleet also increases the transport capacity in parts of the
city’s S-Bahn network, thus expanding services. In the course of replacing the older trains, the
number of cars per train was also increased. For customers, this has specific benefits: longer
trains operate on the Ring lines S41/S42 as well as the S8 line, and the S8 line is extended to
Wildau during peak hours. The new S-Bahn fleet now offers a total of around 18,000 seats. The
new trains have entered service successively since the beginning of 2021, and have been
operating on lines S41, S42, S46, S47 and S8 since then.
- Mireo Plus H hydrogen train reduces CO2
emissions on routes around Augsburg
- Passenger service starts in mid-2024
Siemens Mobility has
completed the first test runs with the Mireo Plus H hydrogen-powered train in
Bavaria. The two-car trainset will enter passenger service in mid-2024 on
routes between Augsburg and Füssen and Augsburg and Peissenberg on the rail
network of Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB). Pilot operations of the train are
planned for 30 months and are supported by the State of Bavaria. Siemens
Mobility and Bavaria signed the corresponding development partnership in 2021.
- Framework agreement worth more than five billion
euros
- Further development of the
Mireo platform
- Expected
deployment in 2028
Siemens Mobility has won the tender for a framework agreement to deliver
up to 540 single-deck electric multiple-unit trains for Austrian Federal
Railways (ÖBB).
- Presentation of framework agreement with Siemens
Mobility worth €400 Million for further ETCS expansion
- ETCS enables shorter headways and greater reliability
Siemens
Mobility and ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) are digitizing the Austrian rail
network to further enhance the attractiveness of public transport. ÖBB is aiming
to double the capacity of Austria’s entire rail system by 2040 to cope with
increasing passenger numbers. This goal is now a bit closer: The most modern
technology for railway operations – the digital European Train Control System ETCS – has now been implemented and commissioned on the 57-kilometer route
between Linz and Vöcklabruck. The system controls distances between trains, as
well as their direction and speed in real time. This enables the route to carry
more passengers and freight, and ensures that the trains run more reliably,
punctually, and safely.
