- Compact, space-saving design of the depot charging infrastructure
- Smart charging with power of up to 100 kilowatts (kW) per bus
- Rampini electric buses equipped with 200 kWh battery pack
Siemens Smart Infrastructure will provide the charging infrastructure for 10 Rampini E80 electric buses in Genoa, Italy, to be used by AMT Genova (AMT), the city's public transport operator. With this project, AMT continues its journey of electrifying the public transport system in Genoa, aiming to create an energy-efficient and sustainable model of urban mobility. The Siemens charging infrastructure is scheduled to be commissioned by the summer of 2021.
- Systems for charging at the depot and on-route
- Charging via on-board pantograph and contact hood with 100 and 450 kilowatts
- Integrated medium-voltage connection for space-saving installation
Siemens Smart Infrastructure will provide the charging infrastructure for 21 fully electric low-floor buses in Leipzig. VDL Bus & Coach received the associated contract from the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH, the public transport operator in Leipzig. The charging systems from Siemens will supply electrical energy to VDL buses on lines 74, 76 and 89 as well as at the Lindenau bus depot and are scheduled to go into operation in 2021. The electrification of local public transport is a major lever for sustainable urban planning. With its Mobility Strategy 2030, also the City of Leipzig aims to develop environmentally-friendly transport systems.
- Smart grid solution to support growing demand for residential electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- Digitalization of low-voltage network enables electromobility growth
- Locally monitored and controlled home charging stations to relieve network
- Decentralized intelligence prevents network overload
- Pilot project in Hamburg aims to develop scalable, technical solutions
Growth in electromobility, along with the required charging infrastructure, presents distribution networks with enormous challenges. To address this, Siemens and Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH have started collaborating on a three-year pilot project aimed at avoiding extensive expansion of the low-voltage networks and preventing overload situations in secondary distribution networks. Applying a concept for resilient information and communication technology to digitalize secondary distribution networks, the project's goal is to facilitate stable and reliable operation of the low-voltage networks to ensure secure power supply as demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure grows.
