- One of the largest stand-alone battery-based energy storage systems to be installed in an island in Europe
- Intelligent microgrid application to predict energy consumption and production
- Reduction of more than 3,500 tons of CO2emissions per year
Siemens Smart Infrastructure, in partnership with Fluence, was awarded a contract by the Portuguese energy provider EDA – Electricidade dos Açores to build a battery-based energy storage system on Terceira, the second biggest island in terms of electrical consumption of the Azores archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. The project aims to make the island more sustainable and is scheduled for completion in 2021.
- Siemens and Netze BW cooperating on multi-year field test
- First distribution substation with innovative blue GIS 24 kV ring main unit live in Oberallgäu
- Fluorine gas-free Clean Air switchgear and bio-ester transformer boost sustainability
In conjunction with their ongoing research
cooperation, Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Netze BW GmbH, headquartered in
Stuttgart, have co-developed an intelligent and environmentally-friendly distribution
substation. For the first time, the new station combines the F-gas-free 24
kilovolt (kV) ring main unit (RMU) from the Siemens blue GIS portfolio with a
630 kilovolt-ampere (kVA) distribution grid transformer. Instead of mineral
oil, the Eco Design 2-certified transformer uses fully biodegradable, natural
bio-ester oil for insulation. The integrated automation system from the Siemens’
Sicam portfolio is designed for the special requirements of distributed grids
and enables reliable monitoring and control of the grid. The innovative
substation, which will connect the medium-voltage distribution grid and the
low-voltage local grid in the town of Kreuzthal in the Oberallgäu region, is now
being tested under real-life conditions.
- White Space Cooling Optimization for highly efficient greenfield data center in Paris region
- Intelligent, continuously learning solution to support data center’s 24/7 availability and energy efficiency
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is supplying the first Tier IV-certified data center in the region of Paris, France. The “Thésée” data center will meet the highest industry standards for availability and energy efficiency. Siemens will install its White Space Cooling Optimization (WSCO) smart solution to optimize the building’s energy efficiency as well as the thermal protection of the server rooms by automatically adjusting the operation of the cooling systems.
- DC fast charging technology for 34 buses at depots in Christchurch and Auckland with an overall power capacity of around 3.7 Megawatt
- Flexible charging systems to easily expand the infrastructure and adapt to future battery voltage levels of up to 1,000 Volt
- Integration with one of the world’s major bus suppliers Yutong
Siemens Smart Infrastructure received an order from Go Bus, one of New Zealand’s largest bus operators, to power two of their bus depots with charging infrastructure for eBuses. The order fulfils two separate Go Bus contracts in Auckland and Christchurch. In Christchurch, 25 electric buses, the city’s first large-scale electric bus fleet, will be charged by Siemens systems. In Auckland, the systems will charge nine buses that will operate on a new electric airport link. The operations are scheduled to start early in 2021.
- Charging technology for 39 parking spaces at innovative eBus depot of VAG
- Parallel charging of 20 buses with up to 150 kilowatts
- Medium-voltage connection for supply with 100 percent green electricity
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has received a contract from Verkehrs- Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg (VAG) to equip its new “eBus port” with a medium- voltage connection and charging infrastructure. With 39 parking spaces, it will be one of the largest electric bus depots in Germany. Located on the VAG premises in the Nuremberg suburb of Schweinau, it will be supplied solely with green electricity. Construction has already started, and operations are scheduled to start in 2021.
- Italian start-up On launches new integrated e-mobility service
- 120 Sicharge AC22 charging stations to be installed to charge various e-vehicles in the city
- Siemens provides cloud-based platform for charging infrastructure management
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is delivering charging stations as well as a cloud-based software for charging infrastructure management to On in Italy. The solutions provide the basis for a new electric vehicle sharing service in the city of Rome developed by the Italian start-up. The first 23 charging stations have already been installed in the center of Rome; the rest will follow during the year.
- Bus depot to be equipped with charging and power distribution technology
- 23 charging stations supply eBuses with 150 kW each
- Easy installation of power distribution system in the existing building thanks to busbar trunking technology
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has received an order from the Regensburg transport authority “das Stadtwerk Regensburg.Mobilität GmbH” in Germany to equip the bus depot in the Markomannenstrasse for electromobility. Siemens will supply the charging infrastructure as well as the power distribution technology. Operations are scheduled to start in 2021. Electric buses were first introduced in the city center of Regensburg in 2017.
- F-gas-free Clean Air switchgear extends blue GIS portfolio to 24 kV level
- Proven and safe technologies for easy management over the entire lifecycle
- Digital features allow for increased reliability in all grids and optimized operation
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is expanding its portfolio of environmentally friendly, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) to 24 kilovolts (kV) with a new fluorine gas-free NXPLUS C 24 medium-voltage switchgear. The use of Clean Air – a natural insulation medium – in combination with proven vacuum switching technology eliminates the need for any fluorine-based gas mixtures (F-gases), enabling climate-neutral energy distribution. The switchgear is equipped with digital features allowing for safe, reliable and cost-efficient operation.
- Voltage
range up to 1,000 V and scalable charging power up to 300 kW
