Siemens and the electric vehicle (EV) charging platform provider Monta have partnered to facilitate the expansion of
charging infrastructure across Europe. Siemens will use Monta’s Charge Point
Management System to manage its own fleet and charging points, as well
as to serve customers with a fully-fledged solution for EV charging at work, in
public and at home, enabling high availability.
- Launch of Simulytic, a Siemens venture, accelerates the move to safe, autonomous mobility
- World premiere of Siemens Autonomous Charging System
- Partnership with Verein Sozialhelden e.V.: Siemens committed to easing use of charging infrastructure by the disabled
- Siemens is official charging infrastructure partner for the Blue Lane Road at IAA Mobility 2021
- #MoveToTransform campaign in Munich embodies the spirit of the IAA Mobility and shows the faces behind mobility’s transformation
For Siemens,
it’s a home game of a special kind: taking as its motto #MoveToTransform, the
company is exhibiting at the IAA Mobility 2021, which is being held for the
first time in Munich, Bavaria’s capital and Siemens’ hometown. As a focused
technology company, Siemens is presenting a holistic look at mobility for today
and for the future. The focus is on how the real and digital worlds are combined
in technical products and digital solutions to make industry, infrastructure
and transportation more intelligent, efficient and sustainable.
- Equips Norwegian grid operator Norgesnett with medium-voltage switchgear
and compact substations for sustainable, reliable, and affordable transformation
of national grid
- Norgesnett adopts SF6-free switchgear, saving approximately 1,200 tonnes
of CO2compared to SF6-gas switchgear over product lifetime
- Siemens’ switchgear utilizes climate-neutral insulating medium “Clean
Air” consisting exclusively of components of ambient air, propelling Norgesnett
toward its sustainability goals
Siemens Smart
Infrastructure has signed a six-year framework agreement with Norgesnett to deliver
SF6 gas-free switchgear in the form of the 8DJH 24 – blue GIS switchgear,
alongside compact substations.
- Intelligent Valve from Siemens now also operates with a glycol content in the hydronic circuit
- Integrated change-over function saves engineering time and investment costs at the automation level
Siemens Smart
Infrastructure has enhanced its Intelligent Valve with new glycol capability. As
a result, the valve can now be used in hydronic circuits with ethylene
glycol-based antifreeze. The glycol option substantially increases the range of
use cases for the Intelligent Valve: It extends the application range to hydronic
circuits that are exposed to ambient temperatures below 0°C during standstill.
Example applications include coils in air handling units (AHUs) or recoolers of
chiller plants. With the new capability, the required burst protection can be
provided without sacrificing the well-known benefits of Intelligent Valve such
as energy transparency, pressure-independent flow control or optimized Delta T
(ΔT).
- Charging infrastructure to power 24 new electric buses for the Ostrava Transit Authority in Czech Republic
- Software to automatically adapt the charging processes to the bus schedules and to optimize energy consumption
- Operations are scheduled to start in mid-2022
Siemens Smart Infrastructure will provide a charging solution for Dopravní podnik Ostrava (Ostrava Transit Authority), which will expand its fleet with 24 Solaris electric buses. The largest order for electric buses in the Czech Republic to date will include four Sicharge UC charging stations from Siemens. These high-power chargers provide an effective maximum of 400 kW each. Furthermore, Siemens will deliver 28 mobile chargers, electrical infrastructure as well as energy automation software.
Siemens and SITA are providing the Kansas City Aviation Department with future-proof, scalable technologies for the Kansas City International (MCI) Airport’s New Terminal project, dubbed Build KCI.
- Up to 37% energy savings for cooling and ventilation
- Adaptive Flow Optimizer and continuous self-optimization
- Self-test reports for easy documentation of settings data
The Intelligent Valve from Siemens Smart Infrastructure, a self-optimizing, dynamic valve with cloud connection, now has an Adaptive Flow Optimizer, which is unique on the market. This technology, as well as new features such as automatic presetting, continuous optimization of the delta T limitation (T) and system-generated reports, make it possible to achieve cost and energy savings while maintaining comfort for the building occupants. For the first time, actions are autonomously evaluated and executed by the Intelligent Valve and communicated to the building operator.
- Project on Terceira handed over to Portuguese energy company EDA – Electricidade dos Açores
- Software from Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and 15 MW battery storage boost share of renewables, improve flexibility and resilience of power grid
- Expected annual CO2 savings of more than 3,600 tons
Siemens Smart Infrastructure,
in partnership with Fluence, a market leader in energy storage established in
2018 by Siemens and AES, has successfully
completed and handed over a sustainable energy project on the Azores island of
Terceira to the Portuguese
energy provider EDA – Electricidade dos Açores. The project combines software
that forecasts energy consumption and production with
a powerful battery-based energy storage system, allowing for greater and more reliable
integration of renewable energy sources such as wind or solar into the power
grid. This combination is expected to reduce CO2
emissions by more than 3,600 tons per year.
The Spectrum Power Microgrid Management System (MGMS)
software implemented for EDA is part of the
Siemens Xcelerator portfolio which supports the digital transformation of power
utilities worldwide.
- Wolfgang Hesoun, CEO of Siemens Austria: “One-of-a-kind research project in Vienna provides solutions for climate protection that are unprecedented in Europe”
- ASCR’s objective: Development of market-oriented, scalable, and economical solutions for the energy future in urban areas
- Making the energy system more efficient and more climate-friendly
The European Green Deal is
the European Commission’s key project for the transition to a climate-neutral
and environmentally friendly economy. “The associated challenges for the
economy and society are significant. The key is clearly in the development of
our cities and the use of state-of-the-art technologies. In order to cover the
constantly rising energy needs, we therefore have to utilize all possible
technologies that reduce carbon dioxide,” stressed CEO of Siemens Austria Wolfgang
Hesoun, who expressed his gratitude that Siemens and the City of Vienna (Wien Energie, Wiener Netze, Wien 3420, and the
Vienna Business Agency) kicked off a research program that is the only one of its
kind in Europe, aimed at ushering in the energy future in urban areas, back in
2013.
