- Siemens represented in the Green Innovation Zone and the Digital Hub at the ACHEMA trade fair
- Focus on chemical recycling and hydrogen
- Siemens Xcelerator and the entire Siemens portfolio support sustainability management along the production chain
Sustainability is the leading theme of this year's world's flagship trade fair for the process industry, ACHEMA, in Frankfurt. In the Green Innovation Zone and the Digital Hub at the fair, Siemens will show how industrial companies can efficiently combine digitalization and sustainability. "As one of the main CO2 emitters, the process industry is under particular pressure to produce in a climate-friendly way," says Eckard Eberle, CEO Process Automation at Siemens. "Holistic and effective sustainability management can only work if industrial companies consistently focus on digitalization and automation." In more than 20 lectures and best-practice presentations, Siemens will illustrate how companies can use digitalization and automation and make their products, plants, and processes more sustainable.

- ETH Zurich runs unique research project on automation and energy supply for buildings in different climate zones
- Project includes one-of-a-kind artificial sun
- Siemens supplies digital building technologies, part of Siemens Xcelerator, for lab
ETH Zurich,
one of the world’s most renowned universities, has just opened a unique
research facility: the Zero Carbon Building Systems (ZCBS) Lab. It allows research
into the behavior of building components and systems in different climate
zones. The new building, located on the university campus in Zurich, comprises
two floors with different test cells, climate chambers, and experimentation
rooms. As part of its existing industrial partnership with ETH Zurich, Siemens
has equipped the new research facility with state-of-the-art digital building technologies,
including for building operations and management. The technologies are part of
the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
- Planned acquisition to strengthen Siemens’ position as a leading technology company in the field of factory automation and digitalization
- Strategic addition to the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio
- A business of ebm-papst, a leading supplier of fans and compact and intelligent mechatronic systems, which employs around 650 people
- Major growth opportunities in the field of intelligent, battery-powered drive solutions
Siemens AG
has signed an agreement to acquire the industrial drive technology (IDT)
business of ebm-papst. The business, which employs around 650 people, includes intelligent,
integrated mechatronic systems in the protective extra-low voltage range and
innovative motion control systems. These systems are used in free-range
driverless transport systems. The planned acquisition will complement the Siemens
Xcelerator portfolio and strengthen Siemens’ position as a leading solutions provider
for flexible production automation.
- Digital Transformation Consulting CNC for the development of an individual digitalization strategy
- Connection between the production network and higher-level networks even for third-party controllers through Brownfield Connectivity Services
At EMO 2019 in Hanover, Siemens is presenting the latest services for the digitalization of machine tools. With its "Digital Transformation Awareness & Consulting CNC", Siemens offers a consulting service for the development of an individual digitalization strategy. In addition to workshops for the identification of action areas and development of the digitalization strategy, target group-specific training sessions provide more in-depth knowledge and promote wider acceptance of the digital transformation. With Brownfield Connectivity Services, Siemens is also offering additional services: using a gateway, users can connect both Sinumerik CNCs and controllers and automation solutions from third-party providers to higher-level networks. Digital Transformation Awareness & Consulting CNC and Brownfield Connectivity Services are part of Digital Motion Control Services, which enable Siemens to support its customers on the path toward digitalization.
- New AI-based apps for more efficient operation of water infrastructures available on the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace
- Easy integration into existing infrastructure without specialist knowledge
- Siemens to showcase its digitalization and automation portfolio for more sustainability in the water sector at IFAT 2024
Siemens, a leading technology company, has expanded its software portfolio for the water industry, enabling its customers to optimize their plant operations using artificial intelligence - without the need for technical expertise. These self-service solutions enable users to address the most pressing issues in water and wastewater operations: reducing water loss, preventing pollution from sewers, and ensuring the reliability of treatment assets. The effect of these applications is also a contribution to greater sustainability overall, as the world's water resources can be better protected. "Digital technologies have not yet been widely adopted in the water sector so far," says Anja Eimer, General Manager Global Water Business at Siemens. "The existing OT and IT device landscape of is complex, skilled workers are in short supply, and the business benefits of many digital applications have often been unclear. With our new software offerings, we are adressing these conditions and enabling water companies to perform AI-based operational analyses."
