In the
context of regular assessments at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2023,
Siemens AG announces an impairment reversal of its investment in Siemens Energy
AG (SE) which will increase the investment book value. Siemens Energy AG's
Xetra closing share price of €20.24 on March 31, 2023, is significantly higher
than the closing share price of €13.99 on June 30, 2022, when Siemens reported
an impairment of the Siemens Energy AG investment. This results in an
impairment reversal, at the end of second quarter of fiscal 2023 ending today,
with a non-cash income effect after tax of €1.59 billion not part of the
outlook for the current fiscal year.
Financial results for the second quarter are scheduled to be published
on May 17, 2023.

available digitally and at all times – that is the basic idea of the so-called
Digital Data Chain (DDC). Siemens is a pioneer in mapping the entire digital
data chain as the company has now supplied Bayer's Crop Science Division with
several SITRANS P320 pressure transmitters with standardized ID links for
unique object identification. In this way, the associated instance-specific,
digital documentation according to VDI standard 2770 could be transferred
directly to the ERP system used by Bayer. "With the digital data chain,
plant operators save a lot of time and money," says Axel Lorenz, CEO
Process Automation at Siemens. "Currently, plant maintenance personnel
spend most of their working time searching for relevant information. In the
future, components at the field level can be identified quickly and reliably
via mobile devices. At the same time, all information about the component is
immediately available digitally – for example for operation or
maintenance."

Siemens is launching a new high-performance frequency converter to join the
Sinamics family in the run-up to Hannover Messe 2023. The innovative frequency
converters are equipped with so-called clean power technology. This reduces
harmonics by up to 97 percent without the need for line harmonic chokes or DC
link chokes.

Euan Shields from the U.S. has won the Siemens Hallé
International Conductors Competition 2023. The 24-year-old emerging conductor demonstrated
his talent to the seven-strong jury at yesterday’s final held at the
Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, United Kingdom. At the three-day competition, Shields
came out on top among a pool of more than 200 conductors from six continents.
The international conducting competition sponsored by Siemens and the Hallé
Orchestra took place for the first time in 2020 and was held for the second
time in March 2023.

In the age of digitalization, data is the new gold. With its new Field
Data Enablement Portfolio, Siemens is now making unused field data accessible
to IT and thus making manufacturing companies more efficient and future-proof.
In many production plants, there’s still lots of hidden potential for
optimization at the field level, for example in automating machines and
systems. Currently only about 20 percent of the total volume of data is used.
Until now, data has been provided to IT systems by the controller, which sends
data from the shop floor to edge or cloud systems. This means data that’s not
available in the controller remains unavailable to IT, such as information
about commissioning. Field Data Enablement now enables the convergence of IT
and OT data with no need to reprogram the controller. This makes OT data
accessible to IT systems that would otherwise remain unused or could only be accessed
with great time and effort and with disruptions in running production plants.
