- Migration
to the highest grade of automation (GoA4)
- Delivery
of onboard equipment for 226 new trains
- Project
will be commissioned in five phases; fully automated by 2033
- Total
order volume of approximately 270m Euros
Siemens Mobility will upgrade the entire 170 kilometers long S-bane
network in Copenhagen to the highest grade of automation (GoA4 technology) to
enable unattended train operations starting with the first phase in 2030. Respective
contracts have been signed with Banedanmark (BDK) and
DSB recently including the necessary signaling equipment for trains and
wayside. GoA4 will allow the operator to run more trains in the entire system, enhance
the level of passenger experience, secure the current punctuality rate and will
future-proof the network. The new contracts have a total volume of about 270m
Euros and build on the original contract from 2011 to equip the Copenhagen
S-train network with the Communications-Based Train Control System [CBTC].

transportation management journey and thereby help them with their
sustainability targets
- Comprehensive, integrated, and charger agnostic, Depot360 requires no
CAPEX, offers maximum scalability, improved operations, and reduced energy
costs
With global transportation the second biggest emitter of greenhouse gases and road transport responsible for almost three quarters of these emissions¹, Siemens Smart Infrastructure has launched Depot360, a portfolio that goes beyond installation and servicing of electrical and charging infrastructure to cover the entire fleet electrification journey. Providing access to green energy at the lowest possible cost, Depot360 is set to accelerate customers toward their sustainability goals.
- Siemens makes automation easy with the first generative AI-powered product for engineering in an industrial environment
- Siemens Industrial Copilot accelerates the generation of complex automation code, reduces development times, and increases productivity
- TIA Portal connection offers customers SCL code generation, customization of HMI visualization, and document search in natural language
- Available for download from the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace starting in summer 2024
At Hannover Messe 2024, Siemens presents the first generative artificial intelligence (AI) product for engineering in an industrial environment. The Siemens Industrial Copilot, the generative AI-powered assistant, is now seamlessly connected to the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal. This will enable engineering teams to find the right help topic and to generate a basic visualization and code faster for programmable logic controllers (PLC). As a result, they will be able to significantly reduce their workload and offload repetitive tasks to the Siemens Industrial Copilot. In addition, the engineering of complex tasks will become less susceptible to errors. This in turn reduces development times and boosts quality and productivity over the long term. The Siemens Industrial Copilot for TIA Portal Engineering will be available for download from the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace starting in summer 2024.
Siemens Mobility has received an order for a further six
5-car Desiro HC trains from DB Regio for the network Werdenfelser Land, Germany
(route: Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Mittenwald).
- Siemens leverages BILT on Apple Vision Pro to provide immersive step-by-step guided instruction for electricians
- BILT becomes newest Siemens Xcelerator Ecosystem partner
- BILT spatial computing app on Apple Vision Pro available at Hannover Messe tradeshow
Siemens and BILT, the creators of 3D Intelligent
Instructions, are optimizing their mobile guides into spatial models for Apple
Vision Pro. As the need for skilled electricians and other trades grows,
training the entering workforce, while up-skilling the existing one, is
essential. Tools such as BILT on Apple Vision Pro provide a highly immersive
and visual training experience that helps users not only learn faster, but
safer.

Germany’s first
use of the Mireo Plus B battery hybrid train from Siemens Mobility / Benefits passengers
and the environment
Innovative
technology along with even more climate protection and greater comfort and
convenience for passengers – regional rail transport on Network 8 (“Ortenau”) is
rising to a new level on April 8, 2024. Today’s the day the first four
battery-powered trains from Siemens Mobility begin regular service, marking a
premiere in Germany. The official start was celebrated by an exclusive
inaugural trip from Offenburg to Oberkirch and back, and was accompanied by
Winfried Hermann, Minister of Transport for the state of Baden-Württemberg, together
with numerous invited guests. “We are writing a new chapter in railway history
with this opening trip,” commented Minister Hermann. “Thanks to the battery
hybrid drive of the Mireo Plus B, trains operating in the Ortenau
region as of today are more climate-friendly than those using diesel.
Baden-Württemberg is a pioneer with innovative train technology. All trains
should be climate-friendly. We are relying on alternative, climate-friendly
solutions wherever there are still no overhead power lines.”
