April 25-27, 2023
Under the motto "Intelligent intralogistics - experience the flow", Siemens will present at this year's Logimat in Hall 3, Stand D11, how a holistic digital twin is developed with the Digital Enterprise Portfolio. Simulation using a digital twin makes it possible to design applications and processes in intralogistics in a highly efficient, flexible and intelligent way. Siemens supports machine builders and operators of logistics centers on the path to digital transformation. The Digital Enterprise Portfolio offers an integrated product portfolio of software-based systems and automation technologies at the center of which is the digital twin. You can experience Siemens solutions and experts in person at the Logimat trade show booth in Stuttgart.
- Trade show motto: "Intelligent intralogistics - experience the flow"
- End-to-end automation and digitalization in intralogistics as a decisive competitive advantage
- Siemens Xcelerator to make digital transformation easier, faster, and scalable
- Highlight: Digital Twin of a real logistics center for more flexibility, higher throughput, and more sustainability
- NEW: AI-based autonomous picking with robots
Under the motto
"Intelligent intralogistics - experience the flow", Siemens is
presenting the holistic digital twin of a real logistics center at this year's
Logimat. The logistics and intralogistics industry finds itself in a rapidly
changing and demanding environment: increasing demand for energy efficiency and
sustainability, the shortage of labor, and cybersecurity threats are just some
of these challenges. With an extensive automation and digitalization portfolio
along the entire value chain specifically for the intralogistics industry,
Siemens supports machine builders and warehouse operators in overcoming these
challenges.
Hannover, April 17 to April 21, 2023
On
April 17, Cedrik Neike, Member of the
Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries, will
talk about the
solutions Siemens is developing for a smarter and more
sustainable industry. These solutions are needed in a world where industry is constantly confronted with challenges such as Covid, conflicts and last but not least, climate change.
Under the motto "Accelerate
Transformation", you will learn how industrial companies are working faster than ever to digitize and automate entire value chains. All with the aim of making them faster, more adaptable and more resistant.
Part of this process is the decarbonization of the industry, which requires a sustainable approach in all process steps. At our booth we will showcase how Siemens is using open standards to provide end-to-end solutions that help improve the sustainability of all process steps along the entire battery lifecycle. The goal: to minimize the carbon footprint, as well as to enhance resource efficiency through optimal utilization of materials required for battery production.

- Siemens and Continental Tires sign strategic supplier agreement
- Machine standards expected to maximize interoperability and flexibility
- Siemens to supply automation and drive technology, software, industrial communication, and training
Continental’s tire division and Siemens have signed a
strategic supplier agreement. As Siemens announces on the sidelines of the Tire
Expo trade fair in Hannover (Germany), the company will supply automation and
drive technology for Continental’s tire factories worldwide in its capacity as
a preferred supplier. The aim of the cooperation is to further optimize
Continental's global tire production with innovative control and automation
technology. As part of the agreement, standards will be established which will
help Continental make its production machinery even more efficient throughout
their lifecycles.
- Inner-Alpine, local and regional service beginning in 2025
- Greater comfort and convenience thanks to low-floor entry and more space for passengers with bicycles, buggies and luggage
Siemens
Mobility Austria GmbH has received an order from ÖBB for additional 27 Siemens
Desiro ML electric trainsets. With this order, ÖBB is continuing to renew its
fleet and investing in modern trains for inner-Alpine transport. ÖBB previously
ordered 246 Desiro ML trainsets and over 200 of them are already in service
throughout Austria.
- More than 500 jobs created by 2028
- Production to start in 2024
- Estimated to grow the state’s
economy by $1.6 billion over 12 years
Siemens Mobility, the
Unites States’ largest passenger rolling stock manufacturer, will expand its
manufacturing footprint by building a $220 million advanced manufacturing and rail
services facility in Lexington, NC. The facility will create more than 500 new
jobs and be one of the city’s largest employers. With the increased production
capacity, Siemens Mobility will fulfill the growing demand for passenger rail in
America by producing some of the most innovative and sustainable passenger
trains in the North American market.
- Unused field data becomes accessible to IT systems with Field Data Enablement (FDE) – without interrupting production or influencing the control system
- No additional sensors or programming are required
- Available as a software and/or hardware solution
In the age of digitalization, data is the new gold. With its new Field
Data Enablement Portfolio, Siemens is now making unused field data accessible
to IT and thus making manufacturing companies more efficient and future-proof.
In many production plants, there’s still lots of hidden potential for
optimization at the field level, for example in automating machines and
systems. Currently only about 20 percent of the total volume of data is used.
Until now, data has been provided to IT systems by the controller, which sends
data from the shop floor to edge or cloud systems. This means data that’s not
available in the controller remains unavailable to IT, such as information
about commissioning. Field Data Enablement now enables the convergence of IT
and OT data with no need to reprogram the controller. This makes OT data
accessible to IT systems that would otherwise remain unused or could only be accessed
with great time and effort and with disruptions in running production plants.
- Growing Canadian footprint for Siemens Mobility in rail infrastructure maintenance
- Increasing availability and reliability of Metrolinx network
- Expanding existing partnership with Metrolinx
Siemens Mobility has been selected by Ontario’s
local public operator Metrolinx to provide track, signal, and right-of-way
maintenance services for the agency’s railway infrastructure system that makes
up the West Region of Toronto. The contract includes service for three years
with an additional two-year option. Siemens Mobility’s suite of digital tools
and software will complement the knowledge and expertise their teams possess
with the
intelligent use of rail data to provide Metrolinx with
superior service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Pilot operation with climate-friendly battery-powered trains
- Record performance of powerful Mireo Plus B on topographically challenging Westerwald route
- Diesel trains to be replaced by eco-friendly battery trains
Hessische
Landesbahn has opted for three two-car Mireo Plus B battery trains from Siemens
Mobility for their Upper and Lower Westerwald railway pilot project. Both
routes in the Westerwald, with demanding gradients and long non-electrified
sections, require high-performance trains. With its high drive power, the Mireo
Plus B is ideally suited to meet this challenge. Battery-powered trains will
achieve substantial CO2 savings and reduce noise levels and exhaust
emissions in the region when they replace diesel trains.
