Siemens Energy has been awarded a long-term agreement to perform service and maintenance at the 600 megawatt (MW) Baiji gas power plant, located in the Salah al-Din governorate in Iraq. Under terms of the contract, signed with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity, Siemens will supply and deliver spare parts for the plant’s four SGT5-2000E gas turbines as well as perform significant upgrades, remote monitoring and diagnostic services and field service for an initial period of four years.

Siemens has appointed Dietmar Siersdorfer (50) as CEO of Siemens UAE and Middle East region, effective December 1, 2013. He will also maintain his role as CEO of Siemens Energy in the region, a position he has held for the past five years. Siersdorfer takes over as regional CEO from Erich Kaeser who will retain an advisory role within the company. Kay Zwingenberger (43), who served as CEO of Siemens UAE since May 2012, has been appointed as chief executive of Siemens Healthcare in the region.
