Siemens Korea donates KRW 20
million to support wildfire recovery efforts in the eastern coastal areas
On March 29, a donation delivery ceremony was held
at Korean Red Cross Seoul Office with participation of HaJoong Chung, President
and CEO of Siemens Korea and SungHo Yoon, Vice President of the Korean Red
Cross for supporting wildfire relief efforts in the eastern coastal areas. A massive wildfire which started on March 4 from the eastern coastal town of Uljin and spread to areas in Gangwon Province was finally extinguished after 9 days, becoming the country's most devastating fire on record. It is estimated that nearly 25,000 hectares were burned leaving thousands of victims displaced from their homes.

Based on a joint
donation made by Siemens Ltd. Seoul and Siemens Industry Software, Siemens
Korea delivered KRW 20 million to Korean Red Cross. The donation will be used
for a variety of relief activities such as operating shelters, providing
emergency relief supplies in order to give support to wildfire victims in the
eastern coastal areas including Uljin, Samcheok and Gangneung.
