Soarian MedSuite at S.L. Raheja Hospital for the first time in IndiaSiemens Information Systems Ltd. The implementation of this system has been successfully completed at S.L. Raheja Hospital in Mumbai, also a Fortis Healthcare associate. Soarian MedSuite, an innovative and scalable HIS solution, helps hospitals to provide better patient care and drive clinical excellence by effectively integrating various processes.
Siemens Ltd. has manufactured the country’s first single phase 500MVA HVDC transformer at its Kalwa factory. With this milestone, Siemens Ltd has once again displayed its indigenous manufacturing capabilities to meet the Indian power sector requirement for making high-end technology products. This transformer will form a bank of 1500MVA, the highest ever rating by any Indian manufacturer so far. This will be used in the HVDC Transmission system to efficiently transmit bulk power over very long distance.
Siemens has been awarded contracts for the turnkey construction of two combined cycle power plants in India- UNOSUGEN and DGEN by Torrent Power Ltd and Torrent Energy Ltd. respectively of the Torrent Group based in Ahmedabad, India. including long-term service agreements.
Today Adani Power Ltd awarded Siemens a contract to install a bipolar 500-kilovolt High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission system of 2500 MW capacity. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be commissioned in February, 2011 and the second phase in July, 2011.
Sets up office in Vadodara; plans to employ 100 people within one yearSiemens Ltd., kicked off operations for it’s renewable energy segment, in India by setting up an office in Vadodara, Gujarat to further expand the business. The renewable energy division already has 30 employees on board and will ramp up the number of employees to 100 within one year. “The market outlook for renewable energies in India is extremely positive and we see huge potential for the wind and solar business in the near future”, said Dr. Armin Bruck, Managing Director, Siemens Ltd. “ Setting up of the Vadodara office marks our foray into the Solar & wind business in India and with this initiative, we will be able to strengthen our activities in this important market,” he further added.
Siemens Mobility has signed a contract with Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) to build a new metro line connecting Gurgaon Cyber City to Line 2 of the Delhi metro (DMRC), via the connecting station of Sikanderpur. For this project, Siemens will implement total rail solutions from coaches to electrification and signaling to system integration. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by end of 2012 and once complete, the new 6.1 km stretch will help commuters reduce their travel time significantly.

Indian Railways has successfully rolled out the new 4500 HP Diesel Electric Locomotive, which is futuristic, modern and equipped with the most advance traction system as well as locomotive control system in India, supplied by Siemens. Incidentally, this is India’s 200th IGBT based diesel locomotive.
A consortium led by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received an order from the Government of India’s fully owned public enterprise “National Mineral Development Corporation Limited (NMDC)” for the supply of a complete LD (BOF) steelmaking plant. The order volume for the consortium amounts to approximately 290 million Euro. The steel works will be built at Nagarnar in the state of Chhattisgarh as part of an integrated production complex with an annual capacity of approximately three million tons of steel. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-2015. NMDC had already ordered a sintering plant from Siemens for the Nagarnar project site.
For the third quarter ended June 30, 2011, Siemens Ltd. registered Sales of Rs 2779crores, a growth of 24% over the comparable period last year. While new ordersduring the quarter rose by 8% to touch Rs 2282 crores, the order backlog grew by 10%to Rs 14964 crores. Profit after Tax (PAT) remained flat at Rs 155 crores, compared tothe third quarter ended June 30, 2010.
