Siemens wins Rs.319 crores order from PGCIL

The Power Transmission Division of Siemens Energy Sector has bagged two key orders from PGCIL for supply and commissioning of 765/400kV substations at Angul and Jharsuguda, Orissa. The scope of work for Siemens includes complete project management, design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply and commissioning of the 765/400 kV substations on turnkey basis.
With many large power generation projects expected in this region in the next 3 years, these substations will enhance the power system reliability, in addition it will boost power transmission capacity to power deficit regions across India.
A large portion of the equipments for these projects, including the 765kV, will be sourced from local Siemens factories at Aurangabad and Hyderabad. Siemens commissioned India’s first 765kV substation at Seoni for PGCIL and is currently executing a number of 765kV substation projects. With these two packages of 765kV substations, Siemens continues to be a leading player in the Indian transmission sector, enabling PGCIL in boosting the power transmission infrastructure of India.
