Hannover, April 17 to April 21, 2023OnApril 17, Cedrik Neike, Member of the
Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries, will
talk about thesolutions Siemens is developing for a smarter and more
sustainable industry. These solutions are needed in a world where industry is constantly confronted with challenges such as Covid, conflicts and last but not least, climate change.Under the motto "Accelerate
Transformation", you will learn how industrial companies are working faster than ever to digitize and automate entire value chains. All with the aim of making them faster, more adaptable and more resistant.Part of this process is the decarbonization of the industry, which requires a sustainable approach in all process steps. At our booth we will showcase how Siemens is using open standards to provide end-to-end solutions that help improve the sustainability of all process steps along the entire battery lifecycle. The goal: to minimize the carbon footprint, as well as to enhance resource efficiency through optimal utilization of materials required for battery production.Date:April 17-21, 2023Location:Hanover FairWhere:Siemens booth Hall 9, Booth D53Hybrid press conference and Q&A:17:15 - 18:00

Siemens is rigorously executing its announced €2 billion investment strategy. Of this amount, the company plans to invest around €1 billion in Germany, thereby boosting the country’s innovative strength.
- Siemens Large Drives Applications (LDA) to deliver a high voltage (HV) motor with 105 MW and a 40 MW starting frequency converter for an energy storage project in China
- The motor will have an efficiency of beyond 98 percent
Siemens LDA has received an order from a Chinese customer to deliver a special machine with dual shaft extension. It can be used in motor operation with a power of 105 MW and as generator with up to 129 MVA in power generation mode. The motor will have an efficiency of beyond 98 percent and will be a world-leading 2-pole electric motor.Beside the motor, the contract includes the delivery of a 40 MW Sinamics GL150 starting frequency converter. This LCI-converter (load commutated inverter) is designed for single-motor applications with variable and constant torque characteristics. As a result of the low switching losses and the low loss thyristor technology, the efficiency of the LCI converter is extremely high and lies at 99 percent.
- Intuitive motion control enables a more flexible production and counteracts the shortage of skilled workers
- New Simatic Motion Interpreter software: Program motion sequences with no specialized knowledge
- New Sinamics drive generation completes Siemens’ comprehensive motion concept
Siemens is introducing the
latest version of the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) portal at the SPS
trade show in Nuremberg. With version 19 of the engineering framework, motion
control is easier than ever. It’s intuitive for non-experts and new users, and
this is crucial for industrial companies. To flexibly manage an ever-increasing
variety of products and cope with the shortage of skilled workers, more
processes need to be automated – and this means that machines and systems and
the resulting demands on motion control and automation technology are becoming
increasingly complex.
- Sinamics DriveSim Advanced expands the Industrial Operations X offering, part of the Siemens Xcelerator digital business platform
- Sinamics DriveSim Advanced simulation software for virtual engineering and commissioning of drive constellations
- Complete digital twin of Sinamics drives with all parameters and configurations
- Extending digitalization of drive technology continuously enables machine builders to reduce resource consumption and optimize energy efficiency
At this year's Hannover
Messe, Siemens is presenting Sinamics DriveSim Advanced, an extended simulation
software for drive constellations that can be used for both engineering and
commissioning on the basis of a digital twin. Sinamics DriveSim
Advanced thus expands the simulation portfolio for motion control drives at
Siemens, which was introduced to the market in 2021 with Sinamics DriveSim
Basic. At the same time, Sinamics DriveSim Advanced adds to the Industrial Operations X offering. With Industrial Operations X, Siemens offers a continuously growing interoperable portfolio of products and services for production engineering, execution, and optimization. This offering brings more information technology (IT) and software capabilities to automation and production operations, making industrial operations more adaptable. The Industrial Operations X portfolio is characterized by supporting an open ecosystem, being flexible with modular and scalable functions, and enabling interoperable, seamless, holistic production value chains.
- Siemens
Mobility chosen by CAF to provide state-of-the-art propulsion systems,
including motors, traction converters, and brake resistors
- Siemens Mobility, in collaboration with CAF,
has developed a cutting-edge propulsion system for both new fleets of Metro de
Madrid, which will enhance the efficiency of the new trains
Siemens
Mobility is proud to announce its agreement with the leading Spanish rolling
stock manufacturer CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A.) to
deliver propulsion systems for the new rolling stock of Metro de Madrid. CAF
has recently signed two contracts with Metro de Madrid to replace the aging
vehicle fleet both for narrow gauge and broad gauge. Siemens Mobility, in
collaboration with CAF, has developed a state-of-the-art propulsion system for
both fleets, which will enhance the efficiency of the new trains and will
create the best trains for Metro de Madrid. The vehicles will be equipped with
traction inverters, motors and brake resistors, to deliver full performance in
both 1,500V and 600V catenary systems (bi-tension).
- Predictive Service Analyzer provides information about anomalies in the drive system
- Increased plant availability by up to 30 percent through reduced production downtime
- AI-based algorithm for drive systems
As part of Predictive
Services for Drive Systems, Siemens is expanding its offering at the Hannover
Messe with an edge application. The Predictive Service Analyzer indicates
defects in the drive system at an early stage before they affect the entire
production. As a result, unplanned production downtime can be avoided and
maintenance times can be scheduled in good time, increasing plant availability
by up to 30 percent. By scheduling maintenance and servicing activities based
on actual demand, this increases productivity by up to 10 percent. The Predictive
Service Analyzer's AI-based solution detects early signs of anomalies, such as
those indicating mechanical damage in the motor, including bearing damage,
imbalance, and misalignment, as well as critical operating conditions of the
frequency converter. The app assesses the severity of the defect and the
expected remaining runtime and can thus predict potential future failures.
- Performance optimized, easy to use and future-proof servo drive system
- Flexible and compact – scalable depending on the application
- Easy engineering thanks to integration in TIA, integrated web server and one-button tuning function
With Sinamics S200, Siemens is launching a new servo drive system designed
for a variety of standard applications in the battery, electronics as well as other
industries. It consists of a precise servo drive, powerful servo motors and
easy-to-use cables and offers high dynamic performance. Applications that
require precision in speed and torque, such as winding and unwinding machines in
battery manufacturing and cell assembly, particularly benefit from the new
servo drive system. For this purpose, Sinamics S200 offers optimized speed
ripple, cogging torque compensation, 17/21-bit ST and 21-bit MT encoders, and
cycle-synchronous communication for optimized performance by
Profinet IRT in minimum 250us.
