water utilities making it even more comprehensive for water customers.
- Cooperation draws on Siemens’ portfolio of IoT-enabled hardware, software and digital services – the open digital business platform Siemens Xcelerator
- New initiative builds on long-standing software partnership of both companies
Siemens, a leading supplier in the field of automation and industrial
software, cooperates with Nissan to build production lines for the new
all-electric crossover Nissan Ariya at the company’s plant in Tochigi, Japan. Both
companies build on their long-standing cooperation. Nissan had already been
using the Siemens Digital Industries software portfolio to optimize design and
production. End-to-end digital threads enable Nissan to connect a wide variety
of sources of information across product lifecycle management (PLM) platforms.
- Pilot project with Bayer at the Dormagen site
- Reliable product identification with ID link and quick access to digital product information
- Automatic provisioning through an Information Exchange Platform
- Siemens presents Digital Data Chain at Hannover Messe
Making product data for plant components
available digitally and at all times – that is the basic idea of the so-called
Digital Data Chain (DDC). Siemens is a pioneer in mapping the entire digital
data chain as the company has now supplied Bayer's Crop Science Division with
several SITRANS P320 pressure transmitters with standardized ID links for
unique object identification. In this way, the associated instance-specific,
digital documentation according to VDI standard 2770 could be transferred
directly to the ERP system used by Bayer. "With the digital data chain,
plant operators save a lot of time and money," says Axel Lorenz, CEO
Process Automation at Siemens. "Currently, plant maintenance personnel
spend most of their working time searching for relevant information. In the
future, components at the field level can be identified quickly and reliably
via mobile devices. At the same time, all information about the component is
immediately available digitally – for example for operation or
maintenance."

The industrial sector
is in need of digital transformation toward greater sustainability and resilience.
Value creation and actions for the planet must be brought into balance. Companies
need to do more with fewer resources. At Hannover Messe, Siemens will show how
proven, cutting-edge technology and strong partnerships enable industries to
become both more sustainable and more competitive. Visitors at Booth D53 in
Hall 9 will experience showcases featuring core technologies for digital and
sustainable transformation in the automotive, food, chemicals and
semiconductors industries.
- Siemens Mobility’s digital ecosystem

the high-speed train Velaro for Egypt
- Siemens Mobility is showcasing its innovations
and solutions in hub27 at booth 230 and in the outdoor exhibition area
Siemens
Xcelerator’s unveiling at InnoTrans 2022 signaled the advent of a truly open
ecosystem for seamless digital collaboration. At InnoTrans 2024, Siemens
Mobility will showcase the rail industry’s huge potential to reduce society’s
overall carbon footprint, with digitalization as a key enabler. This includes optimizing
maintenance, maximizing the use of existing infrastructure, and providing
solutions for seamless travel. One of the biggest barriers to a full-hearted
adoption of digitalization, however, is vast quantities of data locked in
closed systems. The answer lies in accessing these data via standardized
application programming interfaces (APIs) and connecting them with AI-driven
analysis and evaluation tools. As a leading provider of technology, Siemens
Mobility has identified around 100 APIs within the rail ecosystem and has already
fully developed a dozen of them.
- Siemens to supply two Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) for Alexandria Supervisory Control Center and West Alexandria Distribution Control Center
- Advanced metering infrastructure, including the supply of 300,000 smart meters, will be established during the project implementation
- Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) serves customers in Alexandria, a city with about five million inhabitants
- Implementing state-of-the-art software solutions and automation devices will help AEDC to increase efficiency and reliability of the electricity supply, while reducing electricity distribution losses
- This project funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has a value of about EUR 50 million
Siemens
has been awarded a contract to upgrade the distribution management
system and establish an advanced metering infrastructure for Alexandria
Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) – Lot 1 of a JICA-funded loan. As
subsidiary of the state-owned utility Egyptian Electricity Holding Company
(EEHC), AEDC is responsible for the distribution network of Alexandria
Governorate, the second most populated governorate in Egypt. During the
upcoming 30 months, Siemens will be implementing an ADMS control center for the
West Alexandria region and a control center to supervise all distribution
control centers in Alexandria.

- At €19.2 billion on a comparable basis, revenue was nearly unchanged year-over-year (Q2 2023: €19.4 billion)
- Orders in Q2 2024 reached €20.5 billion (Q2 2023: €23.6 billion), a decline of 12 percent on a comparable basis
- At €2.5 billion, Profit Industrial Business was close to the prior-year level (Q2 2023: €2.6 billion)
- Net income totaled €2.2 billion (Q2 2023: €3.6 billion); net income in Q2 2023 benefited from a tax-free gain of €1.6 billion from the partial reversal of an impairment of Siemens’ stake in Siemens Energy AG
- Free cash flow all-in at Group level was €1.3 billion (Q2 2023: €2.3 billion)
- Outlook at Group level confirmed
Siemens delivered solid performance in the second quarter, successfully meeting the high demand for digitalization and sustainability technology. Notably, the industrial software business showed strong growth with particularly high demand in the semiconductor industry. Demand from customers for the construction of data centers also showed strong momentum. Currently muted demand in the short-cycle automation business at Digital Industries, particularly in China and Europe, was largely offset by strong revenue development at Smart Infrastructure and Mobility. In addition, Siemens took a key step in focusing its portfolio with the sale of Innomotics to KPS Capital Partners for €3.5 billion.
