Siemens
Mobility will present solutions that “Transform urban mobility for a better
tomorrow” at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit from June 4 – 7 in
Barcelona. Included is optimized life-cycle costs of rail infrastructure and
transport, 100% system availability, maximized network capacity and optimal
customer experiences and processes. These four
technological areas – integrated into Siemens Xcelerator as an interoperable,
open, and interconnected ecosystem – will help customers provide sustainable, comfortable,
and cost-efficient rail transportation.
Basel
marshaling yard II in Muttenz, one of the central trade hubs for freight traffic from
south to north in Switzerland has been successfully commissioned after 4 years
of partial modernization. The technology upgrade includes the renewal of the
classification yard with SiemensTrackguard
Cargo MSR32automation systems and the installation of new retarders. With
this 20 million € investment, SBB infrastructure is partnering with Siemens
Mobility to ensure a seamless migration of their legacy systems to the newest
technology standards while continuing to maintain safe, efficient and reliable
freight transport for the future.
First call for 70 trains from the 2023

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has ordered the first 70
trains from the framework agreement won by Siemens Mobility at the end of
summer 2023. The trains will be delivered in three different versions from late
2027 onwards. The trains are a further development of the in Europe successfully
established and proven Mireo electric multiple-units. Designed to operate at
speeds up to 160 km/h, the Mireos offer numerous amenities for passengers,
including air conditioning, WiFi service, barrier-free access, electrical plugs,
racks for skis and snowboards, capacity for buggies and wheelchairs near the
doors as well as space for bicycles. The cars will be wider than on previous
Mireos trains to further enhance the passenger experience of ÖBB customers.
And, for the first time, Siemens Mobility is designing the new trains with
inner bearing bogies as a single car concept.

period of 15 years

Alpha Trains, the
leading locomotive and trains lessor in Europe, has awarded Siemens Mobility a
long-term service and maintenance contract. The contract covers the complete
maintenance of Vectron locomotives over a period of 15 years, including revisions
at the Siemens Rail Service Center in Munich-Allach. Maintenance of the
locomotives will be tailored to their operation and carried out as needed in
thirteen different countries at the Siemens Mobility Service facilities located
along the major trans-European rail corridors.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded a contract by NMBS/SNCB, the Belgian National Railways, to retrofit 390 trains and steering cars with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 technology. With the ETCS Level 2 upgrade, the fleet will be able to operate with a greater degree of efficiency and meet the latest European standards for rail safety interoperability. Siemens Mobility will provide the onboard unit equipment and installation support for trains across the fleet. The new technology will not only support the existing national functions in Belgium and Luxembourg, the re-authorisation of a number of the retrofitted vehicles will also allow the vehicles to potentially operate in Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, Siemens Mobility will provide 10 years of maintenance for the ETCS system and will also provide an Online Key Management Solution which will further digitalize train operation.
- Supporting formal coordination and adoption of a national view on interoperability to advance safety and productivity across Australian rail networks
Siemens Mobility has signed a Memorandum of
Cooperation (MoC) with governments and industry, aimed at enhancing rail
interoperability throughout Australia and addressing long-standing legacy
issues in the rail industry. The signing took place at Siemens Mobility Port
Melbourne manufacturing site where signalling products are locally designed and
manufactured with Australian Made certification.
Travelers benefit from greater reliability –
project commissioned after only 18 months(Düsseldorf/Altena, June 1, 2022) Digital Rail Germany is moving forward. Deutsche Bahn (DB) has just inaugurated the completely renewed signaling and interlocking technology on the Ruhr-Sieg line between Letmathe and Kreuztal. The new state-of-the-art digital technology makes the rail network more robust and reliable while enabling better control and greater flexibility of trains. Maintenance of the rail line will also take less work and be easier. The inauguration marks the first commissioning of a project in the federal government’s €500-million Fast-track Program.

stock manufacturer Siemens Mobility and Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn (NEB) today
presented the final design of the Mireo Plus, which will enter service on the Heidekrautbahn
and East Brandenburg rail networks in December 2024. Both the exterior and
interior design of the high-performance and sustainably conceived train reflect
the innovations that went into the climate-friendly hybrid drives as well as
the extensive added value provided by the equipment, passenger services, comfort,
and convenience.
