Siemens AG is making a short-term contribution to the fight against the
flood disaster in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and affected
regions outside of Germany, providing immediate aid of 250,000 euros to first
responders such as the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief and the
German Red Cross through Siemens Caring Hands e.V.

Siemens Mobility has
completed the first test runs with the Mireo Plus H hydrogen-powered train in
Bavaria. The two-car trainset will enter passenger service in mid-2024 on
routes between Augsburg and Füssen and Augsburg and Peissenberg on the rail
network of Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB). Pilot operations of the train are
planned for 30 months and are supported by the State of Bavaria. Siemens
Mobility and Bavaria signed the corresponding development partnership in 2021.

Siemens has been awarded a contract by Bernmobil, the Swiss capital’s public transport company, to supply charging infrastructure solutions for the operation of 14 new electric buses. These are to be deployed on Lines 19 and 21 beginning in early 2023. The project includes fast charging units at three terminal stations as well as charging infrastructure for the Eigerplatz bus depot. To optimize operations, a cloud-based depot management solution from Siemens will be used as software-as-a-service.

The Bavarian
State Ministers for Economic Affairs and for Transport support the testing in
Bavaria of a hydrogen-powered train developed by Siemens Mobility GmbH. The
two-car train is to be tested on the Augsburg - Füssen route, among others,
beginning in mid-2023. The pilot operation in the rail network of Bayerische
Regiobahn (BRB) is initially planned for 30 months. The hydrogen-powered train
will be stationed in Augsburg during this time.
A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed on Monday by Minister for Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger, Minister for Transport Kerstin Schreyer, and top representatives of Siemens Mobility and Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB).

Kickoff
for one of the largest green hydrogen projects in Germany: The official
groundbreaking ceremony in Wunsiedel marked the start of construction of a
hydrogen generation plant with a capacity of 8.75 megawatts. The facility will
produce up to 1,350 tons of hydrogen per year using only renewable energy, for
example from solar or wind power. Using the generated hydrogen in
transportation and industry allows for CO
2 savings of up to 13,500
annually.

Building on
the first three rounds of the Siemens Integrity Initiative, Siemens AG has
again announced projects to receive funding to drive and support clean markets.
Initially launched in 2010, the initiative has a volume of more than US$100 million. The new projects will enhance the initiative’s portfolio
to reach a total of 85 projects in over 50 countries and increase its committed
funding to nearly US$120 million.

Siemens Mobility has been awarded $3.4 billion in contracts in the United States to design, manufacture and technically support 73 multi-powered trains for Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation which has transformed transportation by modernizing rail travel in the United States for the past 50 years. There is also a possibility for up to 140 additional trains and further maintenance agreements. The order is the Railroad’s latest endeavor to acquire the most sustainable and efficient trains on the market, which include dual powered and hybrid battery vehicles.
