Siemens Smart
Infrastructure has enhanced its Intelligent Valve with new glycol capability. As
a result, the valve can now be used in hydronic circuits with ethylene
glycol-based antifreeze. The glycol option substantially increases the range of
use cases for the Intelligent Valve: It extends the application range to hydronic
circuits that are exposed to ambient temperatures below 0°C during standstill.
Example applications include coils in air handling units (AHUs) or recoolers of
chiller plants. With the new capability, the required burst protection can be
provided without sacrificing the well-known benefits of Intelligent Valve such
as energy transparency, pressure-independent flow control or optimized Delta T
(ΔT).

Siemens and MAHLE intend to collaborate in
the field of inductive charging of electric vehicles. Both companies have
signed a letter of intent to this effect. “Wireless charging of electric
vehicles is emerging as a major market for the future. In addition to making
life considerably easier for drivers, who no longer have to fiddle with cables
and connectors, it is a crucial requirement for the autonomous mobility of
tomorrow. The transfer efficiency of wireless, inductive charging is comparable
to plug-in systems,” said Stefan Perras, Head of Pre-development and Innovation

SI to a leading position in the software market for buildings and built
infrastructure. It adds Brightly’s well-established cloud-based capabilities across
key sectors – education, public infrastructure, healthcare, and manufacturing –
to Siemens’ digital and software know-how in buildings. Brightly’s addition to
the Siemens portfolio accelerates the build-up of SI’s SaaS business, enabling
the companies to deliver superior performance and sustainability for built
infrastructure.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s RDG200 thermostat series now offers a model that is
natively equipped with a CO2
sensor and control functions. They allow the indoor air quality to be monitored
and adjusted to ensure a healthy and productive indoor air climate at all times
for people in the building, while maintaining efficient operation. When the air
quality deteriorates because the CO2 concentration rises, the ventilation system
is automatically adjusted and ensures that the right amount of fresh air is
provided to the space.

Just nine months after construction began, a
topping-out ceremony is being celebrated for the new Siemens Technology Center
at the research campus in the university town of Garching, Germany, near
Munich. As a result, this new building – which was planned digitally and is
being built to meet stringent sustainability requirements – has thus now
reached an important milestone on the journey to Siemens’ future research activities in the
Munich area. With its modern work environments, this facility will serve as an
innovation hub that provides space for inspiration and new ideas. At this center,
more than 450 researchers from Siemens’ “Technology” unit will collaborate on
technologies of the future with around 150 employees and students from the
Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has partnered with Esri, the global leader
in geographic information systems (GIS) and location intelligence, to expand
its ecosystem of partners for its grid software business. The partnership
enhances capabilities for the planning, operations and maintenance of power
networks at grid operators by combining Esri’s powerful mapping and spatial
analytics software and Siemens’ electrical topology expertise. In doing so, the
companies aim to upgrade the data flow between applications for increased
planning accuracy and for better operations of the distribution grid. The
partnership´s objective is to improve the admission of Distributed Energy
Resources (DER) to the grid so that net zero can be achieved faster.

Siemens has developed new, highly flexible
molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) frame sizes for high current applications to
perfectly address the needs of switchgear manufacturers and panel builders in
an environment, characterized by increasing complexity, digitalization, and
cost pressures. The new 3VA UL Large Frame MCCBs enable users to implement
powerful, safe, and smart systems while allowing them to improve and greatly
simplify their work processes. These 3VA UL Large Frame
MCCBs can be used worldwide. The 1,200 A and 1,600 A frame sizes meet the
requirements of IEC and UL standards. This is particularly advantageous for
manufacturers who are producing systems destined for global markets. The new 2,000
A frame is designed exclusively for the UL market. The new frame sizes will be available
in both thermal-magnetic and electronic trip unit versions. Molded case switch (MCS)
variants will also be offered.

Volkswagen together with Siemens, the leading global technology company, is investing $450 million, valuing Electrify America at $2.45 billion. Through its financing arm Siemens Financial Services (SFS), Siemens becomes a minority shareholder in Electrify America with a low triple-digit million USD investment and will hold a seat on the board.
