- Early detection of anomalies in the drivetrain with the support of artificial intelligence
- Trend Prediction for optimized maintenance efficiency
- Higher productivity and reduced machine and system downtime
Siemens has supplemented the Mindsphere application Predictive Service Assistance with an AI-based module. The new Artificial Intelligence module identifies concrete fault patterns in motors at an early stage, such as misalignment or a defective bearing. The application thus helps users to reduce downtimes and further improve spare parts and maintenance processes. The new Artificial Intelligence module for motors uses a neural network to solve what was previously implemented using a defined KPI limit value. This enables the module to detect anomalies even before the defined limit value and provides clear indications of the type and severity of faults and their development. As soon as the application detects signs of an error, it warns the user and generates a due date that indicates when the error should ideally be corrected and what corrective action is recommended to prevent an unplanned downtime. Predictive Service Assistance with the new AI-based Artificial Intelligence module is offered as part of a Predictive Service Assessment. The package includes a customized configuration service that ensures that the Mindsphere application with the new AI-based module runs optimally according to the customer's requirements.

- Research projects with volume of €1.7 million and term of 30 months
- Studies of highest automation levels in regional and mainline transport
- Important impetus for digitizing railways
Siemens Mobility and prominent partners have won two innovative research projects from the German Center for Rail Traffic Research (DZSF) to study the safety of automated rail operations. The aim is to define the criteria needed for approving fully automated regional and mainline rail service. The two projects will be funded with €1.7 million and are scheduled to run for 30 months.
- High-frequency data exchange between Sinamics drives and the Industrial Edge platform
- Drive System Framework for connectivity, management, and configuration of the Digital Twin
- Paving the way for new business models
As part of
the Digital Enterprise SPS Dialog, Siemens is launching Analyze MyDrives Edge,
its first edge application for drives. The company is thus demonstrating in
concrete terms how edge computing can make Sinamics drive systems even more
intelligent and what benefits users and machine builders can derive from it.
Analyze MyDrives Edge is being launched with basic functionalities similar to
the proven Mindsphere application Analyze MyDrives but will be enhanced with
intelligent features based on high-frequency data exchange. The Edge
application thus allows users of machines and industry applications to perform
complex analyses of data that is already collected in the drive. Machine
learning and AI algorithms on which the edge application is based identify
patterns and detect anomalies and their causes, thus providing timely
indications of any pending machine maintenance. This minimizes downtimes and
reduces the consumption of resources.
- Siemens presents liquid-cooled, robust power conversion system based on proven Sinamics S120 platform
- Grid converter comes with certification in accordance to VDE-AR-N 4110 and with validated simulation model for easy project planning, optimization and integration into the power grid
With Sinamics PCS, Siemens presents a new power conversion system for battery storage applications. The Sinamics PCS grid converter makes locally generated battery power usable for industrial and public power grids. Sinamics PCS controls the charging and discharging process of the battery and helps to handle load peaks and grid disturbances via the battery storage, to store the electricity in an energy- and cost-efficient manner and to bring the energy stored in batteries efficiently and reliably into the grid.
- Siemens Mobility supplying the complete system technology for C-ITS in Austria
- C-ITS allows for exchange of information between vehicles and the road via ITS-G5 broadcast technology
- ASFiNAG is the first infrastructure provider in Europe to install C-ITS
Siemens Mobility is pleased to announce that it is
partnering with ASFiNAG, the operating authority for the Austrian highway network,
to provide the technology for an intelligent traffic
management system that facilitates the exchange of safety information between
vehicles and the road. The “Cooperative Intelligent Transport System”
(C-ITS) is a next generation traffic management system that uses
broadcast technology to analyze roadway conditions and disseminates information
to motorists relating to traffic jams, accidents, and lane
closures. ASFiNAG is the first infrastructure
provider in Europe to reach the milestone of installing a network connecting
the vehicle and road. The process of implementing the system across 2,200
kilometers of highway and expressway in Austria has already started.
- Growing demand for remote access via public 5G networks for remote maintenance
- Scalance MUM856-1 connects local industrial applications to the public 5G network
- Sinema Remote Connect management platform provides secure access to remote plants and machines
Siemens presents the first industrial 5G router for connecting local industrial applications to a public 5G network. The device will be available in spring 2021. Using the newly developed Scalance MUM856-1, industrial applications such as machines, control elements, and other devices can be accessed remotely via a public 5G network, providing a simple remote maintenance option for these applications using the high data rates offered by 5G. The Sinema Remote Connect management platform for VPN connections can be used to provide easy and secure access to these remote plants or machines – even if they are integrated in other networks.
