Siemens and Fair Friend Enterprise Co., Ltd. Taiwan (FFG) now intend to strengthen their long-standing business relationship. To this end, Dr. Jimmy Chu, Chairman of the Fair Friend Group (right) and Dr. Wolfgang Heuring, CEO of the Motion Control Business Unit at Siemens AG signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding at EMO.

New Siemens services digitalize machine tools and optimize production

At the EMO 2017 in Hannover, Siemens is exhibiting new and expanded digital and classic Services for the machine tool industry – with new capabilities for identifying and exploiting additional productivity potential for machine tools.

CNC-integrated robot kinematics optimizes control of robot-aided machining tasks

Siemens has entered into a cooperative arrangement with the Italian robot manufacturer COMAU and will be unveiling the jointly engineered product Sinumerik Run MyRobot /DirectControl at the EMO 2017 in Hanover. This development enables the robot kinematics to be fully integrated into a CNC system. As a result, the Sinumerik controls the articulated robot arm directly with the basis of complex algorithms without the need for a separate robot controller. The Sinumerik Run MyRobot /DirectControl solution allows the CNC to control both the robot arm drive system andcontains safety functions typically performed by the robot controller. In addition, the robot is programmed solely using Sinumerik.

Innovative automation and technology portfolio for higher machine tool productivity

Siemens will be presenting a new version of its proven Safety Integrated (SI) function for Sinumerik 840D sI in the form of its Safety Integrated plus software for integrated control solutions. SI plus allows the machine manufacturer to speed up plant engineering by 50 percent, and commissioning by around 20 percent.

Innovative automation and technology portfolio for higher machine tool productivity

With its new CNC Sinumerik 840D sl software release 4.8, Siemens is making available a range of new functions to significantly improve the speed, precision and safety of machine tools. Benefits of V 4.8 include facility for compensating unwanted axis nodding movements and protection against machine, tool and workpiece collisions.

Siemens will be unveiling its first MindSphere application for machine tools in the form of Manage MyMachines. Siemens will be linking around 200 machine tools across the fairground up to the Cloud using its open IoT operating system MindSphere.

ID3D has integrated the solutions for security and traceability of digital production processes into the Sinumerik and PLM portfolio of Siemens. Data encryption, including time stamp, is already included in the 3D CAM software NX. Decryption takes place on the SINUMERIK 840D sl.

Under the banner of "Digitalization in Machine Tool Manufacturing", Siemens will be demonstrating over an area of around 1,200 square meters in Hall 25 how machine users and builders of all sizes can benefit from digitalization.

Siemens Press Conference ahead of the EMO Hannover 2017

On July 25 and 26, 2017 Siemens invited to the Press Conference ahead of the EMO Hannover 2017 in the Arena of Digitalization at the Bad Neustadt Electric Motor Factory. Dr. Wolfgang Heuring, CEO of the Motion Control Business Unit, and Uwe-Armin Ruttkamp, Head of Machine Tool Systems, welcomed the guests and talk, according to the motto "Digitalization in Machine Tool Manufacturing", about the requirements within the context of digitalization which have to be met by machine tool manufacturers and operators.

In the "Arena of Digitalization" Siemens demonstrates how digitalization is used in metalworking and motor production and what results can be achieved with it. In addition, using its own development and the way production has grown over many years as an example, the showcase factory demonstrates how digitalization already offers advantages in terms of productivity and efficiency for the discrete manufacturing industry. On July 25, 2017 also this year's Siemens press conference prior to EMO 2017 took place there.
