Siemens Ltd. Seoul Holds 6th Smart NC Contest to Nurture On-Site Technological Talents

The Smart NC Contest, which marks its 6th year, is an event jointly organized by SLS and Hyundai Wia since 2014 with the aim of enhancing students’ technological capacity and nurturing future technological talents. This year, a total of 275 students participate in the event. SLS and Hyundai Wia are the only companies organizing a NC machine tool contest in Korea.
The Smart NC Contest, composed into university and high school groups, performs tests on programing skills for deciding how a machine tool processes materials. Students need to submit a simulation shape based on proposed drawings and aprogram within two hours by using Siemens SinuTrain NC program. This program tests the prediction on the cycle time of how many steps a product would have to go through by using Siemens Sinumerik CNC system’s milling and turning simulation program.
Siemens Sinumerik CNC is a highly productive automation solution for both individual order production to mass-scale successive production. Sinumerik CNC provides processing solutions for flawless production of every workpiece, from individual parts to extensive and complicated mass production.
“The Smart NC Contest has been held every year to discover and nurture on-site future technological talents who have both the necessary knowledge and practical business skills,” said Kwanghee Baek, General Manager of Digital Industry(DI) at SLS. “I’m glad to see the contest marking its 6th year. SLS will continue to support future talents so that students can develop their outstanding ability through this contest.” The Smart NC Contest Award Ceremony will be held on July 19.
