Siemens Partners With HIRANO TECSEED in the Digital Transformation of Battery Manufacturing Equipment

Siemens K.K. (Siemens K.K., Tokyo, President and CEO: Kuni Horita, hereinafter referred to as Siemens) and HIRANO TECSEED Co., Ltd. (HIRANO TECSEED Co., Ltd., Nara Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Kaoru Okada, hereinafter referred to as HIRANO TECSEED) have agreed to enter into a cooperative business partnership to promote the standardization of battery manufacturing equipment and to promote digitalization.
HIRANO TECSEED boasts world-class engineering in the manufacture of coating and lamination equipment, and in the long-term vision for 2030 that they drafted in May 2023, they raised “contribute to the world with roll-to-roll technology” as one of their missions. With this mission, they have expanded their business in the energy field for things such as battery manufacturing equipment, including for next generation batteries, and are aiming to become the global leader in coating machines. Siemens is supporting the realization of HIRANO TECSEED’s long-term vision through the offering of solutions aimed at comprehensive digital enterprise, including simulations and Totally Integrated Automation (TIA), as well as by offering the experience and know-how Siemens has garnered through the construction of large-scale plants overseas.
One example is the standardization of battery coating machines that two companies are currently engaging in together. Standardization of these machines is essential to be successful when competing globally. Standardization is going to accelerate time-to-market, as well as make it possible for us to flexibly and meticulously meet the demands of end users.
Siemens’ concepts, as well as the wealth of hardware and software solutions, will make the standardization easier, and contribute to improving the profitability of HIRANO TECSEED.
Additionally, Siemens is supporting the creation of digital twins by HIRANO TECSEED, allowing both companies to command a structure that is capable of rapidly responding to the diversifying requirement specifications of end users and to changes in designs. Siemens’ Virtual Commissioning Service technology supports detailed evaluations of requirements from the negotiation stage and the rapid establishment of mass-production systems for end users. Further, they are able to promote continued optimization of manufacturing equipment by making use of the benefits of digital twins, which give manufacturing data feedback on product design.
Moving forward, Siemens and HIRANO TECSEED are going to continue to work together as technological partners to improve the competitiveness of the battery manufacturing equipment toward the digital transformation of the battery industry, which is growing rapidly globally.
