Press Release13 November 2017Process Industries and DrivesNuremberg
Switch product line for flexible use in industry and building technology
Industrial Ethernet switches in electrical and optical version
Direct (24 V) and alternating (24 V) current for industry and building use
Up to 24 electrical ports for connecting a large number of nodes
Profinet CC-A conformity ensures reliable data transmission
With its Scalance XB-100 product line, Siemens is launching a new generation of compact unmanaged Industrial Ethernet switches designed to permit the configuration of electrical and optical line and star topologies in networks. This range of switches is particularly suited for use in industry and in building automation applications. Design features include a large number of ports and interfaces, a lightweight plastic enclosure, and a compact design making it ideal for control cabinet mounting. The switches are also approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX Zone 2, IECEx). As unmanaged switches with no pre-configuration, the Scalance XB-100 products are suitable for immediate use, and come with Profinet CC-A conformity to ensure the reliable transmission of Profinet data.

The Scalance XB-100 switches are available in five different variants with up to 24 RJ45 ports as well as two ST/BFOC or two SC ports enabling distances of up to 5 kilometers to be bridged in multimode operation. All the switches are fitted with a redundant power supply, whether with direct current (DC) 24 volts or alternating current (AC) 24 volts, ensuring reliable operation even in the event of a power supply failure.
Support for AC 24 V (50/60 Hz) is particularly vital in the field of building automation, where the new switch product line is ideally suited for the connection of monitoring, closed and open-loop control, and also optimization devices over Ethernet using the protocol BACnet/IP.
The design of the unmanaged Industrial Ethernet switches not only allows them to be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail, but also ensures compatibility with managed Layer 2 Scalance XB-200 Industrial Ethernet switches and the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) environment. Clearly arranged diagnostic LEDs enable precise determination of the device status and rapid, reliable diagnostic analysis.
As for all Scalance products, the new Scalance XB-100 switches come with a five-year warranty.
