Light + Building 2024: Siemens to unveil new products and partnerships to advance transformation to sustainable infrastructure

The company’s focus for the 2024 show is ‘Technology to transform the everyday for everyone’, through which it will highlight how combining the real and digital worlds, together with customers and partners, enables the sustainable transformation of infrastructure on a global level.
At the heart of the booth will be an industry-leading approach to Siemens´ sustainable product offering. This will be complemented by spotlights on electrification, safety & security, decarbonization & energy efficiency and asset efficiency, with new products, software, services and partnerships in the fields of electronic switching and building operation and management showcased for the first time.
“Nearly 40% of global energy emissions and 35% of energy demand globally are related to buildings,” said Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO Smart Infrastructure at Siemens. “Technology is a force of progress. It sits at the heart of addressing such challenges, particularly when it fosters industry wide innovation and collaboration. We are therefore delighted to not only be able to showcase our latest technological innovations, but also present how we are working with key partners to transform how we live, work, move and make.”

Groundbreaking transformation in circuit protection technology

Transforming safety and sustainability in electrical installations, Siemens Smart Infrastructure will introduce one of the world’s most innovative circuit protection devices with cutting-edge, ultrafast protection technology. It enables up to a thousand times faster, wear-free switching, and offers multiple functions in one device, that can be adjusted individually. Depending on the application, this allows savings of up to 80 percent on electronics, 90 percent on metals and 90 percent on plastics.

Technology to transform efficient and sustainable building operation and management

Designed to address the needs of electrification, decarbonization, and resource efficiency across buildings, Building X, part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and built to digitalize, manage, and optimize building operations, will feature prominently at Light + Building 2024. Siemens’ vision for Building X is to create the industry’s most open digital building platform, maximizing data insights to enable enhanced user experience, increased performance, and improved sustainability.
One of the newly launched highlights will be the partnership with the Norwegian tenant relationship management platform provider Bember, with X300 Edge Gateway – designed to optimize access control and parking space utilization. Through the integration of an automated billing system, license plate recognition, and an option for EV charging, building managers will have access to real-time data from sensors, cameras and smart equipment, allowing for full operational control and oversight, within one platform.
Meanwhile, against a backdrop of industry wide challenges, including the need to improve the energy efficiency and productivity of buildings, Siemens Smart Infrastructure will feature technology to optimize space utilization and streamline operations. Its Space Occupancy Application and Plug and Play Automation solutions, both part of Siemens Xcelerator, have been developed to empower commercial buildings and pharmaceutical facilities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Siemens will also introduce an interconnection between its SIMARIS busbar planning software and the BusbarCheck installation app. This user-friendly planning software will allow for the creation of accurate and BIM-compliant digital representations of busbar runs, ensuring thorough planning before installation. Combined, these tools simplify installation procedures, document progress within the digital model and correlate the installed product to its digital twin.
